2026 Philadelphia Supercross Recap

Finally got a mudder for the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross season. Not a full-fledged mudder mind you, at least you didn't have to guess (for the most part) who was who as no one got fully caked out, but the cold enveloped and the rain drenched Lincoln Financial Field for Round 15 on Saturday in Philadelphia.

And, the supposed great equalizer did not really equalize. Cole Davies got it done and Ken Roczen continued his late season tear.

Thus, that's a wrap for the 250 East class. Davies won and clinched the title. In a shortened race, 12 minutes instead of the usual 15, Davies needed just four points on Seth Hammaker to clinch a round early and it all looked foregone with Hammaker going down right after the Holeshot.

But a staggered restart after the Red Cross flag was thrown with 7:22 on the clock closed all the gaps and Hammaker fought from the back of the pack in slippery massive rut conditions to make a go of it in the waning moments to reach second but ultimately got hung up on the final lap and settled for second.

Davies easily won his fifth of the year clinching his first title and becoming the youngest in the 250 class since Trey Canard won in 2008.

"It means everything to me and my family. We've sacrificed everything to come over here," said Davies, who hails from New Zealand. "The hard work and the ups and downs, it's all worth it now. I'm just stoked. This track was treacherous but we got it down. Dream come true."

Daxton Bennick enjoyed a career high second which helps solidify his place in third for the season. Hammaker escaped major injury in his crash when he endo-ed on landing a jump and was thrown off the bike. A resilient race to the front but Hammaker likely settles on second (with a 20 point lead over Bennick) for the second straight year.

450 class

Also in a mud-shortened race, the 450 class ran 17 minutes instead of the usual 20. Hunter Lawrence grabbed the Holeshot but his lead evaporated before the first lap ended when Roczen passed Cooper Webb and moments later throttled past Lawrence.

Roczen checked out for a bit while Lawrence held off Webb in a brief battle for second caught Roczen then sidle bumped him coming out of a turn near the 11 minute mark. Roczen stayed upright in the mud, kept the lead and shortly later Lawrence crashed, gave up second and held on to third.

Webb, however, wasn't done and Roczen's once unsurmountable lead dropped to less than three second as the clock struck zero. For the final two laps Roczen had to crank up his pace as Webb, the defending Champion and still in this year's title chase, closed the gap to almost a fender at one point but a bobble on the last lap allowed Roczen to grab the checkers without a death grip.

"The pressure has been there for a long time and just on a weekend basis dealing with it. There's certain weekends you have to be more aggressive, this one was such an important race, obviously with these conditions things can go so sideways, especially in these whoops, all it takes is for me to stall," Roczen said. "I am so pumped and proud of my crew and myself putting all this together. I'm really enjoying it, this hard work pays off."

Words to live by from this German to an increasingly entitled America. Oops, sorry I digress.

To his surprise, (a funny moment if you caught on TV) Roczen gets the Red Plate something he's never ridden this late in the season. A four-point spread over Lawrence with two races to go.

Elsewhere, Justin Barcia returned for the first time since his crash on Lap 1 of Round 1 and finished 11th. Joey Savatgy finished fourth, Justin Hill fifth and Shane McElrath sixth. Eli Tomac officially exited the championship race after sitting out for the second straight week thanks to a qualifying crash in Cleveland.

A weekend off for the 250 East class as the West resumes racing at Round 16 on Saturday in Denver.
