2026 Indianapolis Supercross Recap

The 2026 Monster Energy Supercross season crossed the midway point with a race-packed Round 9 Triple Crown event on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.

The 450 class got its second two-time winner and a sweeping breakout ride highlighted the 250 East class as everyone gets a weekend off before the final stretch.

In the premier class, Ken Roczen put on a riding display in Race 1 - what a pass on Cooper Webb in the whoops. Roczen led the final nine minutes for the win. Hunter Lawrence rolled up second and Eli Tomac third.

Race 2 had Lawrence grabbing the Holeshot, Tomac by his side and what do you know, before the lap concluded Justin Cooper led. Roczen went down in an odd crash that also took out Aaron Plessinger. Roczen went sideways while airborn, Plessinger came in underneath him resulting in Roczen partially landing on Plessinger knocking both to the ground.

Meanwhile, Cooper and Tomac were battling up front and with about nine and half minutes left Tomac sidled beside Cooper for the lead and normally that would seal it for the two-time Champion. But no.

Four minutes later, Cooper slides in front of Tomac after a turn and sped away. Look who's on rails now! A couple of bobbles by Tomac and Vince Friese almost ending his race after a cross-jump gave Cooper all he needed for his first career race win in the 450 class. Lawrence also bounced into Cole Thompson sending him into the nets, but Lawrence stayed upright and finished fourth.

If Indiana Jones raced, he'd hate lappers.

Four riders in the mix for the overall as the gates dropped for Race 3 and Lawrence made quick work after he got the Holeshot and checked out. Tomac (3-2-2) was right behind for a while but ultimately settled on second. The two tied in total points as the victory gave Lawrence (2-4-1) the overall.

"This one means a lot. This is my fifth day right in a rowtesting with the team, those guys will never give up nor will I," said Lawrence joining Tomac as the only two riders with more than one overall this season. "This is called happy, Triple Crown. It's a tough one."

Roczen (1-10-3) took third in race 3 but his 10th in Race 2 left him in fifth overall. Webb (4-3-4), the defending champion, took the final podium spot on the tie-breaker over Cooper (5-1-5).

Ad break: Jardiance. Did y'all get the ad for Jardiance? No idea what "ailment" it cures, however the list of potential side effects was absolutely comical. What on earth?

250 East Class

It was the Cole Davies (1-1-1) show on this night. He swept, it wasn't really close and he now has the Red Plate. The hyper confident rider said last week nobody can touch him when he does what he's supposed to do.

Jo Shimoda (2-2-3) pursued in the first two races but was unable to catch up. He almost made it triple 2s but on the last lap made a big mistake and went off track allowing Seth Hammaker into third. It didn't natter for the overall as Shimoda had second locked up barring a bad get-off and Hammaker (3-9-2) took third.

Daxton Bennick (4-4-7) enjoyed Race 1 as he grabbed the Holeshot and led for while. He finished fourth overall and Pierce Brown battled from a 10th place finish in Race 1 to take third and fourth in the following races to finish fifth overall. He loses the points lead though, drops to third but only two points out.
