2026 Spring Creek Motocross Recap

Week in, week out it seems as though one brother crashes while leading handing the win over to the other brother.

This week Jett Lawrence crashed while leading Moto 2 for Round 7 of the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship series on Saturday at Spring Creek in Millville, MN giving his brother Hunter Lawrence the win, the sweep and the Red Plate.

Jett, who had nothing for Hunter in the first Moto and finished second, seemed to have Moto 2 locked up early thus giving him the overall while keeping the points lead. But with under nine minutes on the clock the rear of Jett's dirt bike swapped out in the sand prior to a jump sending him to the ground. Then in a weird visual, the bike popped up and took Lawrence down like the two were embroiled in an MMA fight. Turns out the handlebars came down on his boot, knocked him to the floor and pinned him. He eventually broke free but not before the damage was done. He dropped to fifth for the race taking third overall.

Hunter cruised to the checkers for the sweep and the points lead.

"That second moto I got my doors blown off. I had no idea Jett crashed," said Lawrence who won the first Moto by 14 seconds. "I thought he was 40 seconds ahead. He had a good flow and was riding unreal. I got pantsed that Moto. He was flying (but I'm) happy, it worked out."

RJ Hampshire (3-4) just missed the podium after finishing third in Moto 1 when a last lap attempt at passing Jorge Prado (13-3) for third in Moto 2 failed. He took fourth overall and Justin Barcia rounded out the Top 5 with a (5-8) day. The rider in second overall raced back from a first turn bail off to fourth in Moto 1 and gifted second in Moto 2 after the Jett Lawrence crash. Eli Tomac (9-12) returned to action from a neck injury incurred on the first lap of the opening round and finished 11th overall.

250 Class

The 250 class had some highlight reel crashes resulting in a couple of DNFs, one amazing ride, some new faces on the podium and a changing of the Red Plate.

Moto 1 featured two crashes within seconds of each other the bigger one between the leaders of the pack before crossing the Holeshot. Levi Kitchen (8-2) got tangled up in the downed bikes and was thrown off his ride. Somehow, he got up unscathed and resumed riding after everyone still intact rode past. Points leader Cole Davies (38-13) also caught up in the skirmish resumed riding in 32nd place.

The pileup, in turn, helped Kayden Minear (3-6), who took the lead and held on for about 10 minutes until Michael Mosiman (2-39) took over the front position and seemed destined for his first Moto win in four years. But first...

Kitchen was 11th and Davies 14th after 12 minutes. Two minutes later Davies rolled to a stop. Out of fuel. Apparently, the crash punctured the gas tank.

With nine minutes left, Mosiman cruised along with a seven second lead but behind him Julien Beaumer (1-4) was streaking. He passed Minear for second around the seven minute mark and with five and half minutes to go, was five and half seconds back of the lead. He closed to within four seconds when the clock expired and with two laps left was less than three seconds back, quickly caught Mosiman and passed briefly before Mosiman pulled ahead once more only to finally succumb to Beaumer's race craft with a lap or so remaining.

Beaumer took his first career Moto win and a fourth in Moto 2 secured his first career overall less than a year after suffering a burst fracture of his L3 vertebra and fractures to the L2 and L4 in a qualifying crash at the 2025 Charlotte SuperMotocross Championship round.

"I told myself I was going to die trying to come back," Beaumer said. "I'm here, got my first win. Didn't make it easy on myself (it) wasn't the prettiest second moto. We finally got one."

Unfortunately for Mosiman, he crashed in Moto 2 while chasing Minear for the lead and did not finish leaving him 12th overall on a (2-39) day.

Chance Hymas (9-1) got his first Moto win of the season with a strong outing in Moto 2 giving him second overall despite the ninth in Moto 1. Kitchen, who raced to eighth after that pile-up in Moto 1 finished second in Moto 2 for third overall. Davies crashed three times in Moto 2 finally crossing the checkers in 13th but the DNF in Moto 1 gave him 16th overall.

Kitchen entered the round two points back of Davies for the lead and leaves with a robust 24 point lead over Beaumer who moves into second a point ahead of Davies. Minear moved into fourth ahead of the injured Jo Shimoda.

Good news for Kitchen who gets to ride his home track for Round 8 on Saturday in Washougal, WA. The bad news though is that no one in the 250 class can hang on to the Red Plate.
