2026 High Point Motocross Recap

A Lawrence dominated Round 4 of the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship series on Saturday at High Point but not the usual low-flying plane.

Hunter Lawrence secured his third career overall in decimating fashion grabbing Holeshots in both Motos and pretty much leading wire-to-wire.

No one had much for Lawrence not even his brother Jett who usually does the same seemingly over and over every weekend as he's done the last two rounds and much of his career. But this time Hunter Lawrence pulled a Jett Lawrence and left the field in his rearview. The only competition came from Cooper Webb in Moto 1 when Webb held the lead, albeit very briefly, before Lawrence took it back and sped away.

"It was really good," said an all-smiles Lawrence now just two points behind Jett for the lead. "I've been searching a little bit or just missing that little bit at Hangtown and Thunder Valley, so awesome to get this one."

Lawrence was up by 16 seconds at one point in Moto 1 and eight seconds in Moto 2, both times to his brother. Jett Lawrence never made much of a go at Hunter instead built his own gap against Jorge Prado in Moto 1 until it shrank on the final lap and in Moto 2 the younger Lawrence clearly out of reach to catch his brother easily held on to second place despite a rookie's (4-3) desperate attempt to catch him in the final laps and who settled for third overall.

Jorge Prado (3-5) faded in Moto 2 after holding down third for a good portion of the race netting him fourth overall while Aaron Plessinger (6-4) had a break-out ride for the season taking fourth in a well-fought Moto 2 to round out the Top 5.

250 MX Class

A (1-1) sweep for Cole Davies in the 250 class as well though he got a little help and needed more effort than Lawrence.

Davies started second in Moto 1 before quickly dropping to fifth behind Julien Beaumer, Levi Kitchen and Seth Hammaker. Kitchen crashed after five minutes and Beaumer took the lead from Casey Cochran after 10 minutes. All looked good for Beaumer to get his first career Moto win as he held a six second lead over Davies who by this time worked his way into second with 14 minutes left. With about 11 minutes left Beaumer crashed handing the lead to Davies.

The second Moto was fairly easy for Davies who grabbed the Holeshot and checked out. Beaumer (2-2) kept a firm grip on second for second overall and Jo Shimoda (3-4), who put on a racing show with Kayden Minear in Moto 2 in a long third-place battle settled for fourth in the last race but more than enough to get on the podium. The rookie Minear (10-3) took a well-earned fifth overall after fending off Shimoda.

Kitchen (6-5) took fourth overall thanks to a surge in the final minutes in Moto 2 that propelled him from eighth to fifth which also helped him keep the Red Plate. Seth Hammaker (5-40), who entered the round tied in points with Kitchen, wheelied out in Moto 2 crashing hard. He left the track under his own power but was seen holding his shoulder. No update on his injury.

A week off before America celebrates its 250th birthday on July 4 the same day gates drop at Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud.
