Eli Tomac settled down a shaky Moto 1 where he finished third and returned with a solid Moto 2 win to grab the overall on Saturday at Budds Creek and add five points to his lead over Marvin Musquin heading into the final round this weekend. Musquin ate a little into Tomac's lead with a second-place in Moto 1 but was unable to inflict more damage after finishing fourth in Moto 2 and third overall. Tomac leads Musquin by 20.
Ken Roczen took second overall on the tie-breaker to Tomac and was in line for his first overall of the season after a stellar Moto 1 where he led all 16 laps and fought off a feisty Musquin before breaking away and winning easily by nearly 14 seconds. Roczen led for six laps in Moto 2 before Tomac passed and he was unable to hold off Blake Baggett for second and settled for third.
As expected Aaron Plessinger wrapped up his first 250 class Championship leading Moto 1 wire-to-wire for the win and title clinch. Alex Martin, the lone rider still in contention, finished sixth overall and put up little fight in recent weeks to rein in Plessinger. Martin will finish second on the year regardless of next week's result.
RJ Hampshire took his first career win and overall moving into fifth in the standings while Chase Sexton had his best finish of the year taking second overall after a (7-2) day. Plessinger enjoyed a victory lap for Moto 2 finishing 11th and third overall.
