I had no interest in a auto clutch just looking for a better set up than stock or the "H" brand I've been using for years. The "H" brand worked well and never seemed to get slippage as much as clutch fade. I'm no engineer but been around this for four decades and can honestly say the clutch fibers and steel plates don't get enough oil flow. So after 20 hours on brand "H" I decided it was time to look at something different for my 16' KX450f. I surely didn't want to pay as much as I did for the Torq Drive Core Manual set up. But the first thing you notice is with the better material they use for the inner hub and pressure plate so they can remove more material through machining which means more oil flow!!! When I warmed the bike up to drain the oil then remove the "H" clutch It is amazing how dry the fibers plates are and not much oil coating on the drive plates. I've seen this before. Steel plates had some burning but I had them much worse and the clutch wasn't slipping just very grabby and would fade when it got hot. Another thing I noticed more now in the 16' bike using a stainless steel cleanable oil filter is there always was bits of fiber plates in the filter from brand "H". I change the oil and clean the filter no more than 2 hrs. of riding time and sometimes I change it after a ride. The Rekluse so far has worked beyond my expectations. You get two sets of springs. I felt the gold springs were to light, I liked the feel but worried a little I would toasted the clutch, and the red springs felt like stock or a tad stiffer. Now I didn't ride with either set of springs. I just installed them and after lubing the clutch cable just tired the lever pull a few times. I decided to my the springs since this is a 6 spring clutch not 5 like stock by staggering the gold and red. Very happy with the feel. Rekluse also thought out the spring centering on the inner hub and pressure plate. Just go to there web site and look at it. Cant understand why the factories haven't done this. One other thing is Kawasaki in there infinite wisdom routing of the clutch cable stinks. I installed a new 07' cable that my friend had this as a spare and it includes the in line adjuster and has a much better pull due to no binding up at the bars.
So in conclusion the Rekluse manual core drive is a huge investment but this is a well thought out product and worth every penny.
I was searching for a solution to the horrible stock clutch on my 2013 crf450 and I came across the Rekluse core manual with torq drive. I had never spent $900 on a clutch before and was a little afraid to do so. Now that I have the clutch I can't imagine ever riding without one. I race XC at the top of the Vet B class and I was having trouble with getting the bike to start in gear on dead engine starts, also the extremely hard clutch pull of the stock clutch was killing me by the end of a 3 hour race. This clutch solved both of these issues. The pull at the lever was reduced by at least 50% and the bike will fire in gear 100% of the time. Another bonus of this clutch is it puts so much more power to the ground! It feels like you gain 10 h.p. Out of the corners. You will not be disappointed.
I installed the Rekluse Torq-Drive Manual clutch on my 2012 YZ250 2-stroke and it is the best clutch that I have ever used. Its even better than the full Hinson package that I previously had. I race amateur Vet C classes in PA, and my 27 year old son races the same bike in B classes. I installed a mix of the heavy and light springs to get a compromise between lever pull and engagement strength. I also installed a new stock outer basket because mine was getting notched. With a 2-stroke, you really depend upon your clutch. The Rekluse delivers more power with an easier pull. It also gives a much better feel when slipping the clutch out of corners. The clutch really shines when the gate drops. Hearing the roar of the 4-stroke pack behind your screaming 2-stroke is blast. I called customer service to order some spare parts and they were really helpful. INSTALLATION NOTES: The Rekluse inner hub teeth have a rounded edge, rather than a square edge like the stocker. This means that a classic hub holder tool will not grab and hold the hub properly during installation. I used a sprocket installation tool from sprocketstuff.com to prevent the hub from spinning while torqueing the big nut. Its well worth the 20 bucks. Picture attached.
This has got the be the best clutch in history. They have really done there homework with this setup.
I bought this product for my 2013 Yamaha 450F. Easy to install. I noticed a huge improvement on power through the whoops and on the start. The rear tire seems to hook up a lot harder than a stock clutch. You can tell a difference in power transfer. I run the red springs, a bit more aggressive. The clutch makes the bike feel more powerful. I have about 20 hours on the clutch and it still looks new. Rekluse continues to advance the market with its clutch products.
