Working the Old Hose Free
Move both clamps back off the fittings and slide them along the hose out of the way. Spring and pinch clamps need pliers; screw clamps just need the screwdriver backed out until the band loosens. Then start at the petcock end and twist the hose while pulling gently. Rubber that has aged onto a barb will resist, and the petcock spigot on a compact quad is not a heavy casting, so twisting to break the bond beats hauling on it. If the hose refuses to budge, slice it lengthwise with a blade angled away from the fitting. Do the same at the carburetor inlet.

Seating and Clamping the New Line

Slide the clamps onto the hose before you install it. Push the tank end fully onto the petcock spigot so the barb is covered, then do the same at the carburetor. Dipping the hose end in hot water softens the rubber enough to make a tight fit cooperate.
Keep grease, oil, and spray lubricant well away from this job. Anything slippery on a fuel fitting will contaminate the fuel, prevent the hose from gripping the barb, and eventually find its way into the float bowl. Use heat and patience instead. Position each clamp a few millimeters back from the hose end so it squeezes over the barb rather than past it, and tighten evenly — firm and sealed, not crushed. Check that nothing is under tension trying to pull the line off either end.
Verify It Is Dry Before Anyone Rides
Close the float bowl drain screw, open the petcock, and let the line fill. Wipe both connections with a clean rag and then watch them for a couple of minutes — fresh fuel beading on dry rubber is easy to spot. Start the engine, let it idle up to temperature, and inspect again, since heat and vibration will reveal seeps that stayed hidden on a cold machine. This is also a convenient moment to look at the inline fuel filter. On a carbureted quad it sits in the open where you can check it in minutes, whereas fuel-injected machines commonly locate the filter inside the tank. Ride a slow lap yourself, park it, and check the ground underneath one last time.
What Killed the Old Line, and What to Watch Next Time
Two things wear out rubber fuel hose. The first is simple age combined with heat. The line runs close to a warm engine on a machine this compact, and each heat cycle drives a little more flexibility out of the material until it stiffens, loses its grip on the fittings, and starts showing fine surface cracks. Dry desert-style climates speed that up considerably compared to humid regions.
The second is what sits inside the hose. Ethanol-blended pump gas is hard on older rubber compounds, and youth quads spend long stretches parked between seasons and between riders. Fuel left sitting absorbs moisture, separates, and turns into varnish that attacks the bore of the hose and sends debris toward the carburetor. Going forward, watch for a fuel smell that lingers after shutdown, damp spots beneath the machine, visible crazing at the bends, and any tendency for the LTZ50 to bog or run lean under throttle while idling normally. That last symptom points at a restricted line surprisingly often.
