The 2025 Brute Force 750 4x4i is fuel injected, with an electric pump inside the tank feeding pressurized fuel to the throttle body. There is no petcock on the tank, and that single fact reshapes every step below.

Confirming What You Are Working With

On this model, fuel is pushed rather than dropped. The in–tank pump pressurizes the supply hose that runs along the frame to the throttle body, where the injector meters fuel into the 749cc V–twin. Practically speaking, that means your shutoff is a pair of line–clamping pliers instead of a valve, pressure has to be bled off deliberately before any fitting is opened, and the fuel filter is part of the in–tank pump module rather than a serviceable inline piece. The selectable four–wheel–drive layout also puts front differential hardware and additional frame structure alongside the hose path, so the routing is tighter than a two–wheel–drive machine and deserves attention when you put things back.

Why Even a Newer Hose Deserves a Look

Fuel hose ages on a calendar, not an hour meter. Heat cycling from the big twin steadily drives the plasticizers out of the rubber, and as those compounds leave, the wall stiffens and loses its ability to flex with the chassis. Once that happens, everyday vibration starts working hairline splits into the surface, almost always at the bend just off a fitting.

Conditions dictate how quickly you get there. Riders in dry, low–humidity country see hose harden noticeably faster, because the surrounding air pulls residual moisture out of the rubber wall. Ethanol–blended pump gas works the inside of the hose, swelling and softening the liner and attracting water that leaves gum behind. When a Brute Force sits idle for months with E10 in the system, both mechanisms operate at once with no fresh fuel flushing through. That is how a hose can look presentable and still be shedding material toward the injector.

Symptoms That Point at the Hose

Any of the following warrants a close inspection:

  • Gasoline odor around the front of the quad that will not dissipate, most obvious right after shutdown
  • A damp spot or small puddle on the skid plate, frame, or floor beneath the tank area
  • Fine cracking, a chalky finish, or a hardened length that no longer compresses when pinched
  • Grit stuck in a dried ring at a fitting, marking where fuel seeped and evaporated
  • Bogging under load, hesitation on hard throttle, or the machine acting like it is running out of gas

Do not wait for a puddle to confirm your suspicion. Fuel escaping under pressure often atomizes and evaporates before it ever drips, so a clean floor means little on an injected machine. Smell first, then verify with a gloved hand along the full hose run.

Tools, Parts, and Working Around Gasoline

Have everything laid out before you begin:

  • Nitrile or rubber gloves and eye protection
  • Fuel hose rated for injection pressure, matched to the factory inside diameter
  • Fresh clamps in the correct style, or a small assortment kit
  • Line–clamping pliers, taking the place of the petcock this model does not have
  • A sealed fuel–approved container and a shallow drain pan
  • Sockets, a small flat blade, a razor knife, and a good stack of rags

Ventilation is the safety item that actually matters here. Gasoline vapor is heavier than air and pools at floor level, exactly where your face ends up when you reach under the tank. Work outdoors or with the door wide open and a fan on the ground moving air out of the space. Shut down every ignition source in the area, including water heater pilots, and take any soaked rag outside rather than leaving it near the machine.

Taking the Old Hose Off

Start by relieving pressure. Pull the fuel pump fuse or relay, crank the engine in short bursts until it stalls and will not restart, turn the key off, and disconnect the negative battery cable. Opening a live pressurized fitting is how gasoline ends up in your eyes, and this sequence takes about a minute.

Remove the seat and whatever front plastics stand between you and the tank outlet. Slide the pan into place and cup a rag around each fitting as you loosen it, because the hose holds residual fuel even after the circuit is bled. Push worm–gear or spring clamps well back along the hose before rotating anything. If you find a locking quick–connect at the tank, depress the tabs squarely and pull the fitting straight off, never prying at an angle, since those plastic collars grow brittle over time and are a far bigger repair than the hose itself.

Fuel varnish tends to bond old hose to a barb. Twist gently to break that seal rather than hauling on it, and if the hose refuses to release, slit it lengthwise with a razor and peel it away in strips to protect the fitting underneath. Note every clip, guide, and clearance point on the way out, and take a few photographs so the new hose follows the same path.

Installation and the Final Leak Check

Cut the replacement to the same length as the old piece. Excess hose rubs frame edges or interferes with steering sweep, and a short piece keeps constant tension on both fittings. Slide each end fully onto its barb dry. Grease, oil, and silicone spray have no place on a fuel fitting, because lubricant on the sealing surface is precisely what lets pressurized fuel migrate out from under a clamp. Dip a stiff end in hot water for a few seconds if it will not slide on.

Set new clamps just behind the raised bead at each fitting and tighten them evenly, snug enough to seal without cutting into the rubber. Wipe both connections, look closely, and feel for beading. Start the engine, check at idle, snap the throttle a few times, and inspect once more before the bodywork goes on. If fuel delivery still feels soft after a leak–free installation, remember the filter sits inside the tank with the pump, and that assembly is the logical next place to look.
