Young riders rarely describe a fuel problem in useful terms, so the inspection falls to whoever maintains the quad. Park the 2025 Renegade 110 X XC on clean concrete overnight and look underneath in the morning, since gasoline evaporates fast and a small stain disappears by afternoon. Smell around the seat and tank area right after shutdown, when the injected system still holds pressure, because that is when a weeping joint gives itself away. Then get your fingers on the hose: healthy line compresses and springs back, while a hose at the end of its life feels stiff, looks chalky, and may show fine cracks that open when you flex it. Feel for swelling or sponginess right at each fitting, which usually means the inner liner has broken down. Add engine behavior to the list, since bogging when the throttle opens, stumbling under load, or acting like the tank is empty can all trace to fuel delivery rather than a fouled plug.

The X XC Runs Injection, So There Is No Petcock

Establish this before you plan a step. The Renegade 110 X XC uses electronic fuel injection on its single cylinder engine with the fuel pump mounted inside the tank, which means the machine has no fuel valve anywhere on it. Nothing shuts flow off mechanically, there is no float bowl to drain, and the short hose between the tank and the throttle body stays pressurized long after the key comes out. That makes a deliberate pressure bleed the first real step. The tank fitting may be a small self-locking quick-connect coupler rather than a hose clamp, so inspect it before applying tools, and buy hose rated for injection pressure in the correct small inside diameter.

What Wears the Hose Out

Two things age fuel hose, and both apply to a youth quad. Heat cycling and vibration steadily strip the plasticizers that keep the rubber flexible, and a 110 that gets started and stopped constantly cycles its hose more than the hour meter suggests. Once the wall hardens, ordinary chassis flex opens hairline cracks in the surface, and dry, low humidity climates accelerate that by drawing moisture out of the rubber.

Standing fuel does the rest. Ethanol blended gas attracts water, and a season parked with fuel in the lines slowly degrades the inner liner, leaving soft or swollen sections along with varnish and gum that can shed downstream toward the injector. That is why a lightly used machine can still need hose: chemistry does not care how many hours are on it.

Setting Up Safely

Have everything ready before the first fitting comes loose:

  • Nitrile gloves and safety glasses
  • EFI rated fuel hose in the matching small diameter
  • New clamps in the factory style, plus a quick-disconnect release tool if needed
  • Line-clamping pliers for any unpressurized segment
  • An approved sealed fuel container and a shallow catch pan
  • Drivers and sockets for the seat and plastics, a razor knife, and clean rags

Handling gasoline is the one part of this job that can genuinely hurt you, so set the space up correctly. Work outdoors or with the garage open end to end and place a fan on the floor pushing air across the area, because fuel vapor is heavier than air and pools low where a charger, grinder, or appliance pilot light would ignite it first. Unplug and shut off every ignition source nearby, let the exhaust cool fully, and keep gloves on the whole time since gasoline strips skin oils almost instantly. Keep children and pets clear while the line is open.

Bleeding Down and Pulling the Old Hose

Remove the fuel pump fuse or relay, crank the starter for two or three seconds until the engine quits, key off, then disconnect the negative battery cable. Take the seat and the plastics covering the tank off so the entire hose run is exposed. Position the catch pan under the low point and lay a rag over the first joint you plan to open, because a depressurized hose still holds liquid fuel that spills the moment it releases.

Push any clip or clamp well back along the hose before disturbing the joint. Quick-connects release when the lock tabs are pressed squarely and the coupler is pulled straight off the nipple; sideways prying breaks these small plastic collars easily. If varnish has cemented the hose onto a barb, twist gently to break the bond rather than yanking on a lightweight fitting, and slit the hose lengthwise with a razor as a last resort. Photograph the routing before the final clip is out. The 110 X XC is a two-wheel-drive machine with no front differential crowding the frame, so the path is shorter and simpler than on a full size 4x4, though the packaging is tight and it is easy to miss a clip on reassembly.

Installing the New Line

Cut the replacement to match the removed piece exactly. On a chassis this compact, even a small amount of extra slack can push the hose against a hot surface or let it rub a frame edge, while a short piece loads a small fitting at an angle. Slide each end fully onto its barb until it seats past the raised bead, and install it dry. Grease, oil, and silicone spray must stay off the fittings entirely, because lubricant on a sealing surface gives pressurized fuel a channel to creep out. Dip a stubborn hose end in hot water for thirty seconds and it will slide on without force.

Set new clamps just behind the bead on each fitting and tighten them evenly rather than crushing the thin hose wall. A self-locking quick-connect needs no clamp: press until it clicks, then pull firmly to verify the latch engaged. Route the hose back through every original clip so it stays clear of the exhaust and any moving part.

Final Leak Check

Reinstall the fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off four or five times without cranking. Each cycle primes the pump and pressurizes the line with the engine cold, which is the safest condition for inspecting both joints. Wipe each fitting with a dry rag and look hard for the faintest damp trace, then start the engine and check again at idle. Let it run several leak free minutes before reinstalling the plastics, and recheck both joints after the first short ride, since heat and vibration sometimes expose a connection that seemed fine cold.

Last thing worth knowing about this injected platform: the fuel filter is built into the in-tank pump assembly rather than sitting inline on the hose you replaced. New line will not restore flow through a restricted filter, so if the machine still bogs or feels starved after a clean install, that module is the next item to investigate.
