The 2025 Renegade 110 EFI runs electronic fuel injection on its single cylinder engine, not a carburetor, and the fuel pump lives inside the tank rather than relying on gravity to feed a float bowl. That rules out the petcock most people expect to find on a youth quad. There is no fuel valve to rotate closed, no bowl drain screw to crack open, and the short run of hose between the tank and the throttle body holds pressure well after the key is off. On this platform the tank end may use a small self-locking quick-connect coupler instead of a worm-gear clamp, so look before you reach for a screwdriver. Whatever hose you buy needs an injection pressure rating and must match the original inside diameter, which is smaller here than on a full size machine.
Why the Hose Wears Out on a Youth Quad
Rubber hose loses flexibility as heat cycling and vibration drive the plasticizers out of its wall. A 110 spends its life in short bursts with frequent cold starts, and that pattern cycles the hose constantly. Once the wall stiffens, the everyday flex of a light chassis working over rough ground begins opening fine surface cracks that grow with each ride.
The bigger factor on most youth machines is time spent parked. Ethanol blended pump gas pulls water into itself, and fuel standing in the lines while a growing rider loses interest for a season slowly degrades the inner liner, leaving soft or swollen spots along with varnish that can break free. Dry, low humidity climates compound the problem by drawing moisture out of the rubber from the outside. A quad that gets ridden thirty hours a year can still have a hose that is chemically worn out.
Symptoms to Watch For
Because a young rider may not report a problem clearly, do the looking yourself:
- A small fuel puddle or evaporating damp patch under the machine after it sits overnight
- A gasoline smell hanging around the seat area, strongest right after shutdown
- Fine cracking, a chalky surface, or a hardened length that will not compress when pinched
- Swelling or a spongy feel right where the hose meets a fitting
- An engine that bogs when the throttle is opened, stumbles under load, or behaves as though the tank is empty
- A ring of caked dust at a joint, which is dried residue from slow seepage
Treat any persistent fuel odor as a real finding even with dry ground beneath the quad, since pressurized fuel escaping a pinhole often atomizes before it can drip.
Tools, Gloves, and a Ventilated Space
Assemble what you need before opening anything: nitrile gloves, safety glasses, EFI rated fuel hose in the correct small diameter, replacement clamps in the factory style, a quick-disconnect release tool if the coupler requires one, line-clamping pliers, an approved sealed container for drained fuel, a shallow catch pan, sockets and drivers for the seat and side panels, a razor knife, and clean rags.
The gasoline itself is the only genuinely dangerous part of this repair, so set up honestly. Roll the quad outdoors or open the garage completely and put a fan on the floor moving air across the workspace. Fuel vapor is heavier than air and settles at ankle height rather than drifting out a high window, which is exactly where a battery charger, grinder, or water heater pilot light would find it. Unplug and shut down every ignition source in the area, wait until the exhaust is cool to the touch, and keep gloves on since gasoline strips skin oils in seconds. Keep kids and pets out of the space while the line is open.
Relieving Pressure and Removing the Old Line
Start by pulling the fuel pump fuse or relay, then crank the engine for a couple of seconds until it stalls from lack of fuel. Turn the key off and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the seat and whatever plastics cover the tank so you can trace the short hose run from the pump fitting to the throttle body. Slide the catch pan under the low point and drape a rag over the first joint you open, because even a bled line holds fuel that will run out.
Slide any clip or clamp well back along the hose before disturbing the joint. Release a quick-connect by pressing its lock tabs squarely and pulling straight off the nipple, never prying sideways, because these small plastic collars break easily. If varnish has bonded the hose to a barb, twist it gently to break the seal rather than pulling hard on a lightweight fitting, and slit the hose lengthwise with a razor if it still refuses to come off. Photograph the routing before the last clip releases. The Renegade 110 is a two-wheel-drive machine with no front differential in the way, so the hose path is short and reasonably direct compared to a full size 4x4, but the packaging is tight and clips are easy to overlook.
Sliding the Fresh Hose Into Place
Cut the new hose to the exact length of the piece you removed. On a machine this compact even an extra inch of slack can push the line into a hot surface or let it rub a frame edge, and a short piece will pull a small fitting sideways. Push each end fully onto its barb until it bottoms out past the raised bead, working entirely dry. Grease, oil, and silicone spray never belong on a fuel fitting, since lubricant on the sealing surface gives pressurized fuel a path to weep past the hose. Soften a tight hose end in hot water for thirty seconds instead of forcing it.
Fit new clamps just behind the bead on each fitting and snug them evenly rather than crushing the thin hose wall. A self-locking quick-connect gets no clamp at all: press until it clicks, then tug firmly to confirm it latched. Return the hose to every original clip so it stays clear of the exhaust and any moving component.
Checking Your Work Before Handing the Keys Back
Reinstall the fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off four or five times without cranking. Each cycle runs the pump and pressurizes the circuit while the engine stays cold, which is the ideal moment to inspect both joints. Wipe each fitting with a clean rag and look for even a trace of dampness, then start the engine and check again at idle with a flashlight. Let it run several leak free minutes before the plastics go back on, then check once more after the first short ride, since heat and vibration can reveal a joint that looked fine cold.
One final note specific to this injected platform: the fuel filter is part of the in-tank pump assembly rather than an inline element on the visible hose. A fresh line does nothing for a restricted filter, so if the 110 still bogs or acts starved after a clean install, that module is where to look next.
