On a 2025 Renegade 1000 X XC the usual triggers are a faint gasoline smell that lingers around the tank after shutdown, a damp shadow on the concrete that was not there yesterday, or a cracked, hard feeling section spotted while the plastics were off for something else. Occasionally the clue is how the twin behaves: a soft bog under load, a hesitation when you roll into the throttle hard, or a lean stumble as revs climb. Any of those is worth investigating properly, and since a pressure side pinhole on an injected machine tends to atomize fuel rather than drip it, a smell with no visible puddle is still a real finding. Wipe the entire hose with a clean white rag and look for a wet streak.
Confirming the Fuel System

The line holds pressure long after the engine stops, which makes bleeding it down the genuine first step. At the tank end you will likely find a factory retained clip or a self-locking quick-connect coupler rather than a simple worm-gear clamp, and any hose you buy must be rated for injection pressure with the same inside diameter as the original.
Why Hose Hardens and Cracks
Fuel hose loses its flexibility as heat cycling and vibration drive the plasticizers out of the rubber wall. What used to bend easily around a frame tube eventually resists and cracks instead, and each ride works those cracks deeper. In dry, low humidity climates the process runs faster because arid air pulls remaining moisture out of the rubber and leaves it brittle sooner.

Ventilation is not a formality on this job. Work outdoors or with the shop open end to end and put a fan on the floor moving air across the space, because gasoline vapor is heavier than air and pools at ankle height where you will neither smell nor see it clearly. Unplug chargers, shut off grinders, extinguish any nearby pilot flame, and let the exhaust cool completely before starting. Keep gloves on the entire time, since gasoline strips the natural oils out of bare skin almost immediately.
Bleeding the Circuit and Removing the Line
Remove the fuel pump fuse or relay, crank the starter briefly until the engine quits, turn the key off, then disconnect the negative battery cable. Take the seat and the plastics over the tank off so the hose is visible from the pump outlet to the throttle body. Position the drain pan under the low point and lay a rag over the joint you intend to open first, because even a depressurized line holds fuel that runs out on release.
Slide clips and clamps well clear before disturbing a joint. Seating the New Hose and Securing It

Work each end fully onto its barb until it bottoms out past the raised bead, and install it dry. Grease, oil, and silicone spray must stay off the fittings entirely, since lubricant on the sealing surface gives pressurized fuel a route to weep past the hose. Warm water on a stubborn hose end for half a minute makes it slide on properly.
Install new clamps just behind the bead on each fitting and tighten them evenly instead of crushing the rubber. A self-locking quick-connect needs no clamp: push until you hear the click, then pull firmly to prove it latched. Reseat the hose in every factory clip so it stays clear of the driveline and hot surfaces.
Confirming It Holds Pressure
