The single most important thing to get right on a 2024 KingQuad 750AXi is the order of operations. Pressure comes out of the system before a wrench touches a fitting, because this 750 is fuel-injected and the supply hose is live any time the key is on. Skip that step and the job goes badly in the first thirty seconds.

Dropping the System Pressure Safely

There is no petcock on this machine, so nothing mechanical to close. The sequence is electrical instead. Remove the fuel pump fuse or unplug its relay, then crank the starter for several seconds until the engine sputters and dies on the fuel left in the rail. Turn the key off and disconnect the negative battery terminal. The supply line is now at atmospheric pressure and the pump cannot run while your hands are near an open fitting.

Line-clamping pliers still belong in your kit. Pinching the hose on the tank side of the joint you are opening keeps fuel from siphoning out of the tank while you work, and it gives you a way to stop flow immediately if something behaves unexpectedly.

What the AXi Designation Tells You

Suzuki uses AXi to indicate electronic fuel injection on this 722cc single. An electric pump lives submerged inside the fuel tank, feeding the throttle body through a pressurized hose that a regulator built into the pump module holds at a steady value. There is no gravity feed, no fuel valve, and no float bowl drain anywhere in the picture.

The filter follows the same pattern. It is part of the in-tank pump assembly rather than an inline canister you can reach with the plastics off. That distinction matters when you are troubleshooting: a new hose fixes a cracked or weeping line, while a clogged filter element requires pulling the pump module. Do not expect a fresh hose to cure a restriction that sits upstream of it.

Why Fuel Hose Does Not Last Forever

Rubber fuel line depends on plasticizer compounds for its flexibility, and heat slowly drives those compounds out. After enough warm-up and cool-down cycles the hose wall goes stiff and faintly glassy, and a stiff hose cannot follow the movement of a chassis working across rough ground. Hairline splits open at the bends and deepen with every ride.

Storage climate and fuel blend both accelerate the decline. Dry, low-humidity air draws remaining moisture out of the rubber and hardens hoses noticeably faster than damp conditions do. Ethanol works from within: E10 pump gasoline absorbs atmospheric water, and a machine sitting through a long off-season with that mixture inside gradually loses its inner liner. The hose stiffens outward while softening inward, capable of looking sound while it sheds material toward the injector.

Symptoms, Tools, and Working Safely

A failing hose typically announces itself through a gasoline odor near the seat that lingers after shutdown, a damp stain or small puddle under the frame overnight, visible crazing or chalky discoloration, a length that stays rigid under a firm pinch, or an engine that bogs under load and behaves as if the tank is nearly empty. Pressurized fuel escaping a pinhole often atomizes and evaporates without dripping, so an odor with a dry floor is still meaningful.

Gather this before you begin:

  • Gloves and eye protection
  • A drain pan and a sealed, fuel-rated container
  • Injection-rated hose matched to the original inside diameter
  • New clamps of the correct style, plus a quick-connect release tool if a locking coupler is fitted
  • Line-clamping pliers in place of the absent petcock
  • Metric hand tools, a razor knife, rags, and a work light

Gasoline vapor is heavier than air and settles at floor level, then travels until it meets an ignition source. Work outdoors or immediately inside a fully open door, extinguish pilot lights and space heaters, unplug chargers, and keep a dry chemical extinguisher nearby. Drained fuel goes into a sealed container, never an open pan.

Removing the Old Hose

With the system relieved, lift the seat and take off the front fender sections and side panels obstructing the tank outlet and the hose run toward the throttle body. Slide the pan into position and drape a rag over the first connection you plan to open, because a depressurized line still holds fuel that will spill the moment it parts.

Move any clamp well back along the hose before disturbing the joint. On a quick-connect coupler, depress both locking tabs squarely and pull straight off in line with the fitting; prying at an angle cracks plastic collars that stiffen with age. Twist a reluctant hose end gently on its barb to break the varnish bond rather than hauling on it. If it refuses to release, slit it lengthwise with a razor and peel it off, which protects a fitting that costs far more than the hose.

Record the routing as you go. Four-wheel-drive on this KingQuad brings a front differential and extra frame structure, so the hose takes a slightly longer path with additional clearance points compared to a two-wheel-drive quad. Photograph each clip and guide so the new line lands exactly where the old one lived.

Installing the New Line and Confirming It Holds

Cut the replacement to the original length, no more. Extra hose becomes a chafe point against a frame tube or sags toward hot exhaust. Push each end fully onto its barb until it bottoms against the shoulder, assembling dry throughout. Grease, oil, and silicone on a fuel fitting create a leak path for pressurized gasoline beneath the clamp, so keep all of it away. Thirty seconds in hot water softens a tight hose end enough to slide it on.

Position new clamps just behind the raised bead on each fitting and tighten evenly, snug without cutting into the rubber. Where the tank uses a self-locking quick-connect, push until it clicks and then pull hard to confirm the latch engaged; that fitting takes no clamp. Reinstall the hose into every original retainer.

Now test it properly. Reinstall the pump fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the ignition on and off five or six times without cranking so the pump brings the line to full pressure while the surrounding area is still clean and dry. Inspect both joints, wipe them, and check again by fingertip. Start the 2024 KingQuad 750AXi, watch the connections at idle, then rev it lightly and look a third time. After several minutes with no dampness, reinstall the plastics, ride a slow lap of the property, and inspect both fittings one final time before real terrain.
