Catching that progression early on a 2024 Outlander 850 XT-P is straightforward once you know what to look for. This Rotax 854cc twin is fuel injected, fed by an electric pump inside the tank, and there is no petcock valve on the quad, which means the supply hose holds pressure after any key cycle and small leaks behave differently than they would on a carbureted machine.
Inspecting the Line the Right Way
Clean the tank area first so you are reading fresh evidence and not a month of trail dust. Then work the hose over with your fingers along its full length. Healthy fuel hose feels springy and rebounds when you release the pressure. A hose approaching the end of its service life feels dense and unyielding, sometimes with a faint crunch as the hardened wall gives. Bend a section gently and watch for fine crazing that opens under flex.
Look closely at each fitting. A dark, tacky halo of grime at a connection is where small amounts of fuel have been seeping, evaporating, and collecting dirt, and that pattern shows up long before a drop ever hits the floor. Installation and Proving the Seal

Grease, oil, and silicone spray all compromise the seal between hose and fitting under pressure and let the hose creep off the barb over time.
