Clues That the Hose Is Ready to Come Out

Inspect twice: once cold after an overnight sit, once warm immediately after a ride while the system still carries pressure.

Parts, Tools, and a Serious Word on Fumes

  • A drain pan and a sealed, fuel-rated container for captured gasoline
  • Hose rated for fuel injection pressure in the matching inside diameter
  • New clamps sized to the fittings, plus a quick-connect release tool if a locking coupler is present

  • Hand tools for the seat and side panels, a razor knife, and plenty of clean rags

The ventilation warning here is practical, not decorative. Gasoline vapor is heavier than air and pools at floor level, right where a water heater pilot or a battery charger tends to sit. Installing the Replacement and Confirming It Holds

Push each end fully onto its fitting until it bottoms out, and do it completely dry. Grease, oil, and silicone stay off fuel fittings, because any lubricant film under a clamp becomes a leak path the moment the pump comes up to pressure. Start the engine, let it idle for several minutes, and inspect once more before the bodywork returns.
