The 2023 Brute Force 750 4x4i uses electronic fuel injection, so before you begin, understand that the pump sits inside the tank, there is no petcock to shut off, and the supply hose holds pressure even after the engine has been off for a while.

Preparation, Parts, and Fuel Handling

Get all of this together first:

  • Nitrile or rubber gloves and eye protection
  • Replacement hose rated for injection pressure, matched to the original inside diameter
  • New clamps in the factory style, or a mixed clamp assortment
  • Line–clamping pliers, filling in for the petcock this machine does not have
  • A sealed fuel container and a shallow drain pan
  • Sockets, a small flat blade, a razor knife, and a generous supply of rags

The safety concern with this job is vapor. Gasoline fumes are heavier than air and collect in a layer at floor level, right where your head sits when you reach beneath the tank. Shut off anything with a flame or hot element nearby, including a water heater pilot in the same room, and carry any fuel–soaked rag outside rather than leaving it beside the machine.

Symptoms Worth Chasing Down

A failing hose usually gives fair warning:

  • Gasoline odor lingering around the front of the quad, strongest immediately after shutdown
  • A damp patch or shallow puddle on the skid plate, frame, or floor beneath the tank
  • Hairline cracking, a chalky surface, or a hardened section that no longer squishes when pinched

  • Bogging under load, hesitation on hard acceleration, or the sensation of running out of fuel with gas still in the tank

What Makes Fuel Hose Fail With Time

Ethanol–blended gasoline attacks the liner from the inside, softening and swelling it while pulling in water that leaves gum deposits behind. When a Brute Force sits several months at a stretch with E10 in the system, both processes run simultaneously with nothing to interrupt them, which is exactly how a hose that looks acceptable ends up sending debris toward the injector.

Bleeding Pressure and Removing the Line

Relieve system pressure before a wrench touches a fitting. Pull the fuel pump fuse or relay, crank the engine in short bursts until it stalls and refuses to restart, shut the key off, then disconnect the negative battery cable. That short sequence is what keeps gasoline out of your face when the first connection breaks loose.

Remove the seat and any front plastics blocking access to the tank outlet and the hose run toward the throttle body. Position the pan below and keep a rag cupped around each fitting as you open it, because residual fuel stays in the hose regardless of how carefully you depressurized. Slide worm–gear or spring clamps well back before rotating anything. Where a locking quick–connect is used, press the tabs squarely inward and pull the fitting straight off; prying at an angle snaps collars that have grown brittle with heat and years.

Varnish frequently glues the old hose to its barb. Twist gently to break the bond instead of pulling hard, and if it still will not release, slit the hose lengthwise with a razor and peel it away in strips so the fitting survives. Record the routing as it comes out. Fitting the New Hose and Confirming It Is Dry

Cut the replacement to match the length of the original piece. Excess hose finds frame edges to rub on or interferes with steering sweep, while a short piece keeps both barbs under permanent tension. Slide each end fully onto its fitting with nothing on the sealing surfaces. Grease, oil, and silicone spray must stay off fuel fittings entirely, because a lubricated barb gives pressurized fuel a path to creep out from beneath the clamp. If an end resists, dip it in hot water for a few seconds to soften the rubber.

Place the new clamps just behind the raised bead on each barb and tighten them evenly, firm enough to seal without cutting into the hose. On a self–locking quick–connect, push until the collar clicks and then pull firmly to verify engagement; that style seals on its own and adding a clamp can distort it. Reinstall every original clip so the finished run sits clear of the driveline, steering hardware, and exhaust heat.

Verify before you ride. Refit the pump fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off several times without cranking, which pressurizes the circuit and lets you examine both joints while the engine is still. Wipe them clean, look closely, and feel with a bare finger for beading fuel. Then start the engine, inspect at idle, snap the throttle a few times, and check once more. Several minutes of leak–free running means you can reinstall the bodywork with confidence. One final note on the 2023 Brute Force 750 4x4i: its fuel filter is part of the in–tank pump assembly rather than an inline component on the visible hose, so ongoing delivery problems after a clean, dry install point toward that module.
