Nobody plans a fuel line replacement. It gets added to the list after a damp fitting turns up during a wash, or after the engine coughs on a climb and the tank turns out to be half full. Either way, the hose on a 2022 CFORCE 600 Touring is a genuinely serviceable part, and knowing how this machine feeds its engine is most of the battle before the first bolt comes out.
Tools You Want Within Arm's Reach
- Nitrile or rubber gloves, since repeated skin contact with gasoline is unpleasant and drying
- Replacement hose rated for fuel-injection pressure in the factory inside diameter
- A fuel-rated container with a sealing lid for anything you drain
- New clamps matching the type you remove, plus a quick-disconnect release tool if the machine uses a locking coupler
- Line-clamping pliers, which take the place of the petcock this model does not have
- Sockets, a small flat screwdriver, a fresh razor blade, and a stack of clean rags
The gasoline safety point is worth stating plainly. Vapor from an open fuel line is heavier than air and settles at ground level, then travels toward whatever ignition source is nearby rather than dissipating upward. Work outdoors if the weather cooperates. Indoors, open the overhead door completely instead of trusting a window, kill pilot lights and unplug chargers, and seal the drain container as soon as fuel enters it.
Fuel Injection on the Touring Chassis

Fuel is pushed by an electric pump mounted inside the tank, and the supply hose to the throttle body stays under pressure after the key goes off. The Touring model adds passenger seating and bodywork over a standard rack version, and as a selectable 2WD/4WD machine it also carries front differential and driveshaft hardware ahead of the engine. Take photos of the path while everything is still assembled.
What Time and Fuel Do to Rubber
Hose failure begins with plasticizer loss. Those compounds keep fuel line pliable, and heat cycling in the engine bay steadily bakes them out. The rubber goes from soft to stiff to glassy, and chassis vibration then works cracks into every bend. In dry climates the timeline shortens noticeably, because low humidity draws moisture out of the hose wall and hardens the outer surface early.
The interior faces a different attack. Ethanol-blended pump gas pulls water into the fuel system and gradually breaks down the hose liner, so a line can be degrading internally while presenting a clean exterior. Fuel that sits for months during an off season contributes gum and varnish at the fittings as well. On a machine several seasons old, replacing the hose on age alone is reasonable rather than premature.
Symptoms of a Line on Its Way Out
- A wet patch or puddle beneath the tank area after the quad has been parked
- Persistent gasoline smell around the seats, strongest right after shutdown
- Fine cracking, chalkiness, or a hardened section you can feel through a glove
- Bogging under a passenger load, a lean stumble at higher rpm, or symptoms mimicking an empty tank
- A dust-caked ring at a fitting where fuel has been seeping and drying
Pressurized systems complicate the visual check, because a small hole can atomize fuel that evaporates before it drips. A lingering fuel odor with nothing visibly wet still justifies a hands-on inspection of the entire run.
Separating the Old Line
Relieve pressure by pulling the fuel pump fuse or relay, cranking the engine for a second or two until it stalls, switching the key off, then disconnecting the negative battery cable. Remove both seats and the side panels blocking access to the tank outlet. Slide a drain pan under the first fitting you intend to open and lay a rag across it, because a depressurized hose still carries fuel that will run out when the joint parts.
Push each clamp well back along the hose before disturbing the connection. Quick-connect couplers release when both tabs are depressed squarely and the fitting is pulled straight off, and prying sideways will crack collars that have grown brittle with heat. If the hose has varnished onto a barb, twist it gently to break the bond, and if it still resists, split it lengthwise with a blade and peel it away rather than risking the fitting.
Seating the New Hose and Confirming It Holds
Cut the replacement to the same length as the piece you removed. Extra hose chafes on frame tabs or interferes with steering movement, while a short piece keeps constant tension on both ends. Push each end onto its barb until it bottoms out, working dry, because grease or oil on a sealing surface gives pressurized fuel a route past the clamp. A brief soak of the hose end in hot water softens it enough to slide home without a fight.
Position new clamps just behind the raised bead on each fitting and tighten them evenly, snug enough to grip without deforming the hose. Any self-locking quick-connect gets no clamp at all; press it until it clicks and pull firmly to verify the latch. Return the hose to every original guide so it stays away from exhaust heat and the front driveline components.
Finish with a proper leak check. Reinstall the fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off several times without cranking so the pump pressurizes the line while both joints are dry. Wipe each connection with a clean rag and look closely for seepage, then start the engine and inspect again after several minutes at idle before the plastics go back on. Worth noting on this injected Touring: the fuel filter is part of the in-tank pump module rather than an inline element on the visible hose, so if delivery still feels weak after a leak-free install, that assembly deserves the next look.
