It flows downhill off the machine and collects at floor level, exactly where an extension cord, a shop heater, or a water heater pilot lives. Open ventilation at ground level is the point, not a window over the bench. Roll the quad outside if you can, or open the shop front and back and let air actually move through.

Kill every ignition source in the space before starting. Pilot lights out, chargers unplugged and moved, grinders and torches put away, hot incandescent work lamps replaced with something cool. Keep a fire extinguisher on the floor within reach of where you will be kneeling. Wear nitrile or rubber gloves, since gasoline strips the oils out of skin in seconds and absorbs through it, and put on eye protection because a fitting can spit when it lets go.

  • New clamps in the correct style and size, plus a spare or two

Getting the Old Hose Out

Bleed the pressure first. Pull the fuel pump fuse, crank the engine briefly until it stalls, switch the key off, then disconnect the battery negative cable.

Remove the seat and any bodywork covering the tank outlet and the hose run. Position the drain pan and lay a rag over the fitting as it separates, because residual fuel stands in the line even after pressure is released. Slide clamps well back before disturbing the joint. If a locking coupler is present, squeeze the tabs evenly and pull straight off with no sideways prying, as those collars turn fragile with heat and age.

Rotate the hose gently on each barb to break the varnish bond, then work it free. A section that refuses to move should be slit lengthwise and peeled away rather than levered. Photograph the routing before the old line is fully out. This being a 4x4, the hose threads past front differential hardware and extra frame crossmembers absent on a two-wheel-drive machine, and putting the new one back along the same path is what keeps it away from moving and hot parts.

Installation, Then Proving It Holds

Cut the replacement to the old length with square ends. Push each end fully onto its barb until it bottoms, working dry.
