Choosing Parts and Preparing the Workspace
The parts list is short but specific. You need hose rated for fuel injection pressure in the same inside diameter as what came off, because soft low-pressure carburetor tubing will balloon or weep on a pressurized system. Add fresh clamps in whatever style the machine already uses, and pick up a quick-disconnect release tool if the tank outlet on your Outlander carries a locking collar rather than a clamped barb.

How Age and Fuel Chemistry Ruin a Hose

The hose that once flexed easily with the chassis becomes stiff, then brittle, then split. Riders in dry, low-humidity regions see this arrive early, because there is no ambient moisture to slow the hardening of the outer wall.
Ethanol-blended pump gasoline attacks from the inside. Alcohol content holds water and gradually degrades the hose liner, shedding gum and fine particles toward the injector while the outer surface continues to harden. An Outlander MAX 450 parked for months with fuel in the system is degrading on that clock regardless of how few miles it covers. Time in service, not the odometer, is the honest measure of hose life.
Symptoms That Point at the Line
Work through this checklist during a normal inspection:

- Fine cracking, crazing, or a powdery white surface anywhere along the hose

Taking the Old Line Off the Machine
Pull the fuel pump fuse and let the engine run until it stalls on its own, then switch the key off and disconnect the negative battery cable. Installation and the Leak Check That Matters
Cut the new hose to match the old one exactly. Surplus length chafes on frame tubes or drifts toward the front driveline, and a short piece pulls at both barbs whenever the suspension works. Keep grease, oil, and silicone away from the barbs entirely — lubricant on that surface is an invitation for pressurized fuel to creep past. Soften a stubborn end in hot water instead.
Set clamps just behind the raised bead on each fitting and tighten evenly to firm rather than crushed. A self-locking quick-connect needs no clamp; push until it clicks and then tug to prove it latched. Restore the hose to every original clip so it keeps its factory distance from the exhaust and the front drive hardware.
Reinstall the fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off half a dozen times without cranking. Each cycle runs the pump and loads the line while the joints are still clean and dry enough for a spot of fuel to show immediately. Wipe both connections, inspect in strong light, then start the engine and watch through several minutes of idle before the plastics go back. Worth knowing: the fuel filter on this injected Outlander is built into the in-tank pump module rather than sitting inline, so a fresh hose will not clear a restricted filter.
