Changing the Fuel Line on Your 2019 Can-Am Renegade 570

Every fuel hose on every quad eventually reaches the end of its useful life, and catching that moment before a ride goes sideways is worth a little attention. The 2019 Renegade 570 uses electronic fuel injection on its Rotax single, which means the pump sits inside the tank and the supply line carries pressure whenever the ignition is live. There is no petcock lever, no gravity feed, and no float bowl to drain, so the procedure differs meaningfully from what you would do on an older carbureted machine.
Assembling What You Need
Nothing about this job is difficult, but stopping partway to hunt for a clamp with an open fuel line in your hand is a bad time. Lay out the following first:
- Nitrile or rubber gloves, because gasoline pulls the natural oils out of skin quickly
- A sealed metal or approved plastic container for whatever fuel drains out
- Replacement hose rated for fuel injection pressure and matched to the original inside diameter
- Fresh clamps in the correct sizes, plus a quick disconnect release tool if the tank fitting is a locking coupler
- Line clamping pliers, standing in for the fuel valve this model does not have
- A razor knife, sockets and drivers for the seat and plastics, and a generous pile of rags
Do not use ordinary carburetor hose as a substitute. It is not rated for injection pressure and will either weep at the clamp or swell over time.
Working Safely Around Fuel
Gasoline vapor is heavier than air, which is why it pools near the floor and travels toward ignition sources you were not thinking about — a furnace pilot in the corner, a shop heater, a grinder throwing sparks. Open the overhead door all the way rather than relying on a window, or simply roll the Renegade outside. Keep the drain container upright and capped between pours, and disconnect the negative battery cable so the pump cannot energize while a fitting is open.
Why the Old Hose Failed
Fuel line degrades from both surfaces. Externally, the plasticizers that keep rubber flexible slowly migrate out under years of heat and fuel exposure. What remains is stiff and brittle, unable to absorb the vibration of sport riding, and the heat cycling off the Rotax works surface checking into real cracks. Arid climates make this happen sooner by continuously drawing moisture out of the hose wall.
Internally, the ethanol in modern pump gas attracts water and chemically attacks the liner, leaving a soft, gummy layer that flakes off toward the injector. A 570 left standing with old fuel in the system can be well along in that process with nothing to show on the outside, which is why an aged hose is worth replacing even when it inspects reasonably well.
What a Failing Line Feels Like to Ride
Physical evidence and behavioral evidence both matter. On the physical side, look for gasoline pooled on the skid plate or spotted on the floor after the machine has sat, a persistent fuel smell near the tank that is strongest right after shutdown, visible cracking or a chalky bloom on the hose, and a section that stays hard when squeezed. A dirt caked ring at any fitting marks a seep that has been evaporating for a while.
BehavioRally, a compromised supply line shows up as bogging under load, a lean stumble when you snap the throttle open, or an engine that acts like it is running out of gas well before the tank is empty. Because the circuit runs pressurized, a pinhole leak can atomize into vapor and never form a drop, so a strong smell paired with a dry floor still deserves a full inspection of every joint.
Removal Step by Step
Relieve pressure before touching a fitting: pull the fuel pump fuse or relay, crank the engine until it dies, then key off and disconnect the battery negative. Remove the seat and side plastics to expose the tank, and follow the hose all the way to the throttle body so you know its full path.
Slide a catch pan underneath and drape a rag over each connection as you open it, since residual fuel remains even after bleeding. Move each clamp back along the hose, then twist the end gently to break the varnish bond rather than pulling straight and hard. Quick connects release when both locking tabs are depressed evenly and the coupler is drawn off in line with the barb; prying sideways cracks aged plastic. A hose end that is genuinely stuck can be slit lengthwise with the razor and peeled off.
Note every clip and clearance point. This 4x4 chassis routes the line past front differential hardware and additional frame structure that a two wheel drive quad does not carry, giving it a slightly longer, busier path.
Installation and the Final Leak Check
Cut the replacement hose to the original length exactly – surplus tubing chafes on the frame or interferes with steering. Push each end all the way onto its barb until it bottoms out, and do it dry, with no grease, oil, or silicone on the sealing surfaces. Any lubricant film there becomes a leak path once the pump comes up to pressure. Soften a tight hose end in hot water instead.
Set new clamps just behind the bead on each fitting and tighten them evenly. Where a self locking quick connect is used at the tank, push until it clicks and then pull hard to confirm the latch caught; no clamp belongs on that joint. Return the hose to its original guides, well clear of the driveline and hot exhaust.
Then verify. Reinstall the fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off several times so the pump pressurizes the line with the engine off. Wipe the joints and check them closely for weeping. Start the machine, idle it for a few minutes, and inspect once more before reinstalling the plastics. If fuel delivery still seems weak afterward, remember the filter on this Renegade lives inside the tank with the pump assembly rather than inline on the hose you just replaced.
