Understanding how fuel reaches the engine on your 2015 KingQuad 750AXi determines almost every decision you make during this repair. Get the system right and the job is straightforward. Assume it works like an older carbureted utility quad and you will be cleaning gasoline off your workbench.

How Fuel Travels on This 750

The AXi suffix is Suzuki's marker for electronic fuel injection, and this 722cc single has run it since the platform arrived. There is no fuel valve to rotate, no gravity feed, and no float bowl to drain. A submerged electric pump inside the tank pressurizes the supply hose and a regulator built into that same module holds it steady. Whenever the key is on, the hose you are about to remove is live, and it stays partially pressurized well after shutdown.

The pump module also houses the filter element. That is a meaningful detail for anyone chasing a fuel delivery complaint, because there is no inline filter sitting on the visible hose to swap while you are in there. Replacing the line addresses cracking, weeping, and hardening. A restricted in-tank filter is a separate repair, so keep the two symptoms mentally separated.

The Slow Death of a Rubber Hose

Fuel line degrades along two fronts at once. From the outside, heat cycling drives out the plasticizers that give rubber its flexibility. Ten years of warming up, running hot, and cooling down leaves a hose that has gone stiff and slightly glassy, and stiff hose cannot absorb the constant vibration and frame flex of a working utility quad. Small cracks form at the flex points and grow.

From the inside, ethanol does its own work. Standard E10 pump gas attracts atmospheric moisture, and when a KingQuad sits idle through an off-season, that water and alcohol mixture slowly attacks the hose liner. The result is a line that softens internally while stiffening externally, quietly shedding particulate toward the injector. Dry, arid storage climates speed the external hardening noticeably. Riders in the desert Southwest often find hoses brittle years before a rider in a humid region would.

Warning Signs Worth Acting On

Look and smell for the following:

  • A gasoline odor around the tank and seat that lingers after the engine is off
  • Fuel staining or a small puddle on the skid plate or the shop floor beneath the machine
  • Hairline cracks, a chalky surface bloom, or a hardened length that resists a firm pinch
  • The engine bogging under throttle, surging at part throttle, or running as though the tank is nearly empty when it is not
  • Dirt collected in a damp band around a hose fitting, which reveals a weep you cannot see directly

Pressurized fuel escaping a pinhole atomizes readily, so the smell frequently arrives long before any visible drip. That is not a reason to wait.

Setting Up the Work Area

Have all of this on hand:

  • Rubber or nitrile gloves and eye protection
  • A fuel-rated sealed container and a shallow drain pan
  • Hose rated for fuel injection pressure, matched to the factory inside diameter
  • New clamps of the correct type, plus a quick-connect release tool if your machine has a locking coupler
  • Line-clamping pliers, mandatory on a model with no petcock
  • Metric hand tools, a razor knife, rags, and good light

Handle the gasoline safety piece honestly. Vapor is heavier than air and collects at floor level where it can travel to an ignition source across the room, so work outdoors or immediately inside an open door. Shut down water heater pilots, unplug battery chargers, and skip the shop fan that sparks when it starts. Keep an extinguisher close and never drain fuel into an open bucket you plan to leave sitting.

Getting the Old Hose Out

Relieve the pressure before anything else. Pull the fuel pump fuse or relay, crank the engine briefly until it dies from starvation, switch the key off, and disconnect the battery negative lead. That sequence leaves the circuit unpressurized and the pump unable to run.

Open the seat and remove the front fender sections and side panels blocking access to the tank outlet and the hose path toward the throttle body. Position your pan and lay a rag over the first fitting you intend to open, since residual fuel will run out the moment the connection parts.

Slide any worm-gear or spring clamp well down the hose before you disturb the joint. For a quick-connect coupler, depress both locking tabs squarely and draw the fitting straight off without side load, because aged plastic collars split when levered. Twist a stuck hose end on its barb to shear the varnish bond loose. If it holds fast, run a razor along its length and peel the hose away rather than damaging the barb.

Study the routing carefully on the way out. The front differential and the additional frame structure that comes with 4x4 drive give this hose a longer path with more clearance points than a two-wheel-drive layout, and duplicating that path exactly is what keeps the new line away from the driveline and the exhaust.

Fitting the New Line and Verifying the Seal

Cut the replacement to the same length as the original. Push each end fully onto its barb until it bottoms out, and assemble it dry. Grease and lubricant on a fuel fitting create a leak path for pressurized gas, so leave all of it in the cabinet. A quick dip of the hose end in hot water is the only help you need to get a snug hose over a barb.

Position new clamps just behind the raised bead on each fitting and snug them evenly, firm but not crushing. A self-locking quick-connect at the tank end needs no clamp at all; simply push until it clicks and then tug hard to confirm engagement. Secure the hose back into every original clip so it holds its intended shape.

Now test it. Reinstall the pump fuse, Reconnect the battery, and cycle the key on and off five or six times without cranking. Each cycle pressurizes the line, letting you inspect both joints while the surroundings are still dry. Wipe the fittings and check them by touch as well as by eye. Then start the 2015 KingQuad 750AXi, let it idle several minutes, blip the throttle, and inspect once more before the plastics go back on. Take a slow lap of the yard, park it, and give both connections a final look before the machine goes back to work.
