Supplies to Have on Hand First

Before touching the machine, collect:

The Fuel Path on This 350

The 2010 Grizzly 350 is a carbureted machine, and that dictates the entire approach. A manual fuel valve at the tank feeds one rubber hose that drops by gravity to the carburetor inlet, and the float bowl underneath has a drain screw you can open with a screwdriver. Nothing in that chain holds pressure. On a fuel-injected quad the first move would be pulling a pump fuse and bleeding the rail, and you might face a self-locking quick-connect fitting instead of a clamp; here a lever and two clamps do the job.

This is the two-wheel-drive model, which leaves the underside of the tank open. Four-wheel-drive versions carry front differential hardware that nudges the hose path wider and adds a clearance point or two along the way, so the layout you see here is the simpler of the two.

Three Reasons Lines Go Bad

Age comes first. The plasticizers that keep fuel hose pliable are slowly driven off by heat cycling, and a hardened hose cracks at its bends rather than flexing with the frame. Climate is second: dry, low-humidity air pulls moisture from the hose wall and stiffens it noticeably faster than a damp environment would, which is why quads in arid regions need line replacement earlier than their hours suggest.

Fuel chemistry is third. Ethanol-blended gas draws water into the system and degrades the hose liner from the inside, softening it and releasing fine debris toward the carburetor. Stretches of inactivity make it worse, since evaporating fuel leaves gum and varnish behind that constricts the bore and bonds the rubber to the barbs. All three run at once, which is why a line can look acceptable and still be well past done.

How a Dying Line Behaves

These are the signs that should put the hose on your list:

  • Fuel pooling under the machine or streaking down the frame after it sits
  • A gasoline smell in the garage that intensifies near the front of the quad
  • Fine cracks, splits, or a dry chalky finish on the hose surface
  • Rubber that feels rigid when squeezed, or soft and swollen right at the fittings
  • Bogging under throttle, hesitation on grades, or lean running that feels like low fuel

The performance symptoms fool a lot of owners into rebuilding a carburetor that was never the problem. A restricted or partially collapsed hose delivers enough fuel to idle smoothly and then falls short the instant the engine wants volume.

Shutting Down and Extracting the Old Hose

Turn the fuel valve to OFF and pull the seat plus whatever panel is blocking your view. Slide the pan under the carburetor, back out the float bowl drain screw, and let the bowl empty through the overflow tube, then close it. The line is now essentially dry and safe to open.

Push the clamp at the carburetor end back along the hose, rotate the hose gently to break the varnish grip on the barb, and pull it free with steady pressure. When hardened rubber will not release, slice it lengthwise with the blade and peel it away rather than prying on the inlet fitting. Handle the valve end the same way. While you are in there, look at the valve screen for accumulated sediment — a carbureted Grizzly gives you that serviceable filter point, whereas an injected model hides its filter inside the tank alongside the pump where a hose job never reaches it.

Putting the Fresh Line In Place

Set the old hose next to the new stock, mark it, and cut square at the identical length. Slack does nothing helpful here: a long line loops, chafes on frame tubes, or rises high enough to trap air in a gravity system. Push each end onto its barb until it bottoms against the shoulder, working entirely dry. Keep grease, oil, and lubricant sprays off the fittings, because anything slick compromises the seal and lets vibration walk the hose off the barb. Stiff new rubber softens in a few seconds of hot water.

Seat the clamps just behind the bead on each fitting and tighten them evenly — enough to hold, not enough to score the hose. Route the line back through its original frame passage with an unbroken downhill run, then tug firmly on both ends to be sure they are captured.

Testing Your Work

Open the valve and wait a full minute with a clean white rag under each joint, looking for even a hint of dampness. Fire the engine, let it idle while the bowl fills and the temperature comes up, then check both connections and the ground beneath the machine again. A few sharp throttle blips and one more inspection finish the verification. With a dry install confirmed, reinstall the bodywork, clean the spilled fuel, dispose of the old hose and drained gas responsibly, and your 2010 Grizzly 350 is ready for whatever the property throws at it.
