Knowing the Layout on a 4x4 Chassis
The valve beneath the tank has ON, OFF, and reserve settings, and a small strainer screen behind the outlet keeps sediment out of the hose. Set the clamps just behind the raised bead on each barb and tighten evenly until the hose stops turning by hand, then stop. Overtightening a worm gear clamp cuts into new hose and seeds a slow weep. Open the fuel valve and wait a minute before starting, letting gravity refill the bowl while you watch both connections. Wipe them dry with a clean rag, pause, and look for fresh fuel. When they hold, start the engine, let it idle to operating temperature, and inspect once more with the chassis vibrating. Finish with a slow lap and a last look before the bodywork goes back. While the area is open, rinse the strainer screen at the valve outlet and confirm the tank vent breathes, because either restriction imitates a failing hose precisely.
