Tools and Materials Needed

- 4 quarts of 10W-30 or 10W-40 oil
- Oil drain pan
- Socket wrench set
- Oil filter wrench
- Funnel
- Clean rags
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prepare Your ATV
Ensure your ATV is on a level surface and the engine is cool. This will prevent burns and ensure accurate oil drainage.
2. Remove the Skid Plate
Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing the skid plate. Set the skid plate aside.
3. Drain the Old Oil
Place the oil drain pan under the engine. Use the socket wrench to remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to completely drain out. Once drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
4. Replace the Oil Filter
Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Apply a small amount of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter before installing it. Screw the new filter into place and tighten it by hand.
5. Add New Oil
Remove the oil fill cap and use a funnel to pour in the new oil. Check the oil level with the dipstick and add more if necessary. Replace the oil fill cap once the correct level is reached.
6. Reattach the Skid Plate
Secure the skid plate back onto the ATV using the bolts you removed earlier.
7. Check for Leaks
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any oil leaks around the filter and drain plug. If there are no leaks, your oil change is complete.
