Josh Herrin lost some ground in the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship series as a blown engine forced him out of Race 2 on Sunday at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT.

Temperatures were in the 80s on Saturday but hovered near 100 on Sunday which proved to be too much for Herrin's bike. Adding insult to injury, the motor blew on the last lap. Herrin placed third in a well-fought Race 1 on Saturday.

"It was very unfortunate but we are still in the Championship hunt," said Ameen Sajjadi, the Wheels in Motion/Motosport.com/Meen Yamaha team owner.

Despite the DNF for Race 2, Herrin holds on to second-place and is now 44 points behind JD Beach who swept the weekend including a dominating Race 2 win of nearly 10 seconds. Garrett Gerloff who went 2-3 for the weekend is in third-place just 10 points behind Herrin. Beach has five straight wins and seven on the season.

Joe Roberts extends 600 Superstock lead with a sweep at Miller Motorsports Park

In the Superstock 600 series, Joe Roberts, who also rides for the Wheels in Motion/Motosport.com/Meen Motorsports team, swept the weekend and has eight wins for the year including five straight. He holds a commanding 37 point lead over Richie Escalante who nearly ended Robert's win streak on Sunday coming up short by .225 seconds.

"Joe had an amazing weekend sweeping both his races from Pole position like the last round," Sajjadi said.

Privateer and MotoSport rider Andy DiBrino finished in ninth-place for both races. DiBrino is in eighth place in the standings.
