2017 Beta 390 RR Dirt Bike Torque Specs

The 2017 Beta 390 RR receives a significant platform update — a new chrome-moly steel frame with revised geometry, updated bodywork, and improved ergonomics. The 389cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve single with electronic fuel injection and six-speed gearbox carries over mechanically, but the new chassis changes how the engine’s torque reaches the ground. Revised steering geometry and swingarm dimensions affect weight distribution and traction dynamics. The KYB 48mm fork and Sachs rear shock are retuned for the new geometry. A fundamentally new chassis means torque verification during the break-in period is essential — new welds, new mounting points, and new load paths all settle during early use.

Dry vs. Wet Torque
Oil drain plug: always wet; reduce 15–20% with sealant. All other values assume dry threads. The 390’s 45 Nm head bolt spec requires careful wet torque correction to prevent over-clamping the larger bore.
New Frame Break-In Protocol
The redesigned frame requires a break-in torque protocol during early ownership. Verify all engine mount bolts, swingarm pivot, subframe bolts, and linkage bolts after the first five hours of riding. New welds and machined surfaces seat under load. The 390’s torque output stresses the new frame harder than the 350 would, making this verification even more important on the mid-displacement model.
Thread Locker Recommendations
Medium-strength (blue) thread locker for the 2017 Beta 390 RR:
- Rear sprocket nuts
- All disc bolts
- Linkage bolts
- Subframe bolts
- Exhaust header bolts
- Skid plate bolts
Torque Wrench Selection
A 3/8-inch drive click-type for 20–100 Nm and a 1/4-inch drive for 10–12 Nm hardware. Two drive sizes for the redesigned 390cc four-stroke enduro.
