Front Disc Brake Maintenance Notes
The 1983 CR250’s front disc brake is an early-generation hydraulic disc system. On a bike of this age, brake fluid should be replaced annually regardless of appearance—old fluid absorbs moisture and becomes less effective over time. Inspect the caliper slider pins for corrosion and free movement. The rubber seals in the master cylinder and caliper may be original—if the system is soft or leaking, a rebuild kit for the caliper and master cylinder will restore proper function. OEM rebuild kits may be available through Honda parts channels or vintage MX parts suppliers.
