Question asked by Jonathan

Question: 2002 kawasaki vulcan 500 ltd. tops out at 105 mph. Still revving but a groan like its running out of steam. Would you recommend a stage 3 kit on a factory bike? I do have open exhaust pipes similar to a '66 Shelby Cobra. Open, no baffles.

Answer: The Dynojet Stage 1 & 3 Jet Kit is available for your 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan EN500C LTD. With your upgraded exhaust system, the Stage 3 kit will improve performance.
You can gain more top end speed by changing your gearing. The original sprockets on the '02 EN500C LTD are 16T front and 42T rear. You can improve top end speed by changing the front sprocket to 17T. It's important to know that any changes to improve top speed will reduce your torque.

Question: I have a K&N filter and want to install a 4 into 1 pipe on a 1989 ZX10. It will be a backroads tourer for me and the wife so reliability with a better sound and a little more pep in her step was the goal. Will the Stage 1 be correct to achieve that?

Answer: The Dynojet Stage 1 & 3 Jet Kit to fit your 1989 Kawasaki ZX1000 Ninja ZX-10 includes BOTH the Stage 1 and Stage 3 jets and needles in a single package, so that you may tune your carburetion to your specific needs and environment.

The Stage 1 Jet Kit is intended for motorcycles with a stock engine using the stock airbox, air filter and stock pipe. Stage 1 kits are fully adjustable to allow the use of a well designed aftermarket pipes and stock replacement air filters like K&N.
Stage 1 kits are designed to improve throttle response and driveability and in most cases power increases of approximately 5% throughout the entire power range can be achieved.

The Stage 3 Jet Kit is intended for motorcycles with stock or mildly tuned engines using a well designed aftermarket pipe and individual air filters. In most cases power increases of 10-15% can be achieved. However driveability may be compromised particularly with short stroke, high rpm motors.
On some modern engine and airbox designs, individual filters and proper jetting offer no performance improvement yet compromise driveability, in such cases stage 3 kits are not available.

Both stages may be used with a good aftermarket exhaust.
The single package includes four of each main jet, and four needles, and is all that is needed for all four carburetors.

Question: Jet sizes equivelent in inches?
Question asked Over 4 years ago
I have an 81 cb 900F that I have tried to jet around a flat spot without loosing top end. Seems as though the answer is a tad bit bigger in the primary circuit. Tried the DJ 074 with the DJ 130 initially with the clip in the center... too much fuel-dies at 6,000-lowered needle ATW down and got top end but terrible dead spot at 6,000. Back to OEM primary jet, middle on clip and bad spot at 3,000. Raised needle ATW up, bad spot gone but it looses it at the upper range 7500 or so...I see you make no smaller jets if I'm seeing the chart right. What I need to know is, is the numbering of your jets arbitrary or does it somehow correlate to the orifice size? If they are in thousandths, and the OEM are also then I need .070 but if what I'm seeing of my jets this size that I already have ( Mercury O/B jets) , they are not..

Question: What jet sizes come in this kit?

Answer: The jets in the kit aren't numbered according to the stock jets. Dynojet jet sizing cannot be referenced by either Kehin or Mikuni jet numbering. Dynojet includes the jets and needles required to make the bike run properly after modifications and includes a jetting guide to help accomplish this.

Question: Does it have the o- rings for the float bowl & the float needles & seats?

Answer: This is just a jet kit and will not include any items to rebuild the carburetors. If you need the bowl o-rings, needles and seats they can be purchased from the OEM parts section :

http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/oem-parts

There are also aftermarket carb rebuild kits that will include all of the required o-rings and gaskets, needle and seat, and some will even include new jets. Keep in mind the rebuild kits may fit multiple models and it is recommended to verify your jet sizes when installing a rebuild kit as the sizing may vary.
