Portland, OR - MotoSport.com announced today a year-long partnership with Ryan Villopoto, a 10-time Supercross and Motocross Champion and Pacific Northwest native. The two industry giants now join forces to help grow the sport at the grassroots level.
Eventually the two sides would meet so it came as no surprise when the #1 online retailer for dirt bike parts and gear finally shook hands with one of the all-time greats in Supercross and Motocross. Ryan Villopoto, who recently signed on as Brand Ambassador for Yamaha, is now a signed rider of MotoSport.com. The two plan on producing some content-related riding projects but more importantly work together on the newly created Pac West MX Series to bring racing for all ages and skills throughout the greater Pacific Northwest.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Ryan Villopoto as a signed rider," said Darren Green, Director of Marketing for MotoSport. "We all remember his rise through the amateur ranks, his domination at the 2007 Motocross of Nations and then watched in awe like everyone else those remarkable four-straight premier class Supercross Championships."
Villopoto retired from racing in the United States after his fourth-straight Supercross title in 2014 and briefly raced overseas in the Motocross World Championship (MXGP) series before injury ended the 2015 season and ultimately his career. But Villopoto didn't stay away from the sport for very long as he bought a Motocross track near his hometown outside of Seattle, WA and then co-founded the Pac West MX series that got under way in February and features seven rounds of bar-banging racing throughout the Pacific Northwest.
"Anyone who rides dirt bikes knows about MotoSport and for me it was pretty hard not to notice them growing up in Washington," Villopoto said. "I couldn't ask for more when they got onboard for the Pac West series so when they called about working exclusively with me I was more than pumped for the opportunity. I can't wait to see how the next year unfolds."
MotoSport was founded in Yakima, WA in 1999 at about the same time a young Villopoto was making a name for himself carving up Motocross tracks in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the country at amateur racing events. Through the years, Villopoto turned in epic performance after epic performance becoming one of the great riders in history. All the while, MotoSport eventually settled on Portland, OR and nearly 20 years later is known throughout the industry for legendary customer service and making your next ride, your best ride.
So it's only natural the two natives of the Pacific Northwest work together, doing what they both love, to help grow the sport that has made a difference in so many lives.
About MotoSport.com
MotoSport was founded in Yakima, WA in 1999 by a gentleman named Bill Butcher.
Bill loved riding motorcycles and raced in the expert class in the super competitive AMA District 13 in the late 70s and early 80s. He ultimately founded MotoSport because he believed he could provide a better service to his fellow powersports enthusiasts than the vast majority of local dealers and because he had always dreamed of one day combining his passion with his business prowess. He built the foundation of the business upon a single shared passion for motorcycles and the rest is history, as they say.
Now well into our second decade, MotoSport continues to lead the powersports industry in selection, quality, expertise and customer service. We don't call ourselves "The Guys That Ride" because it's a catchy slogan. When you call for help or advice you'll actually talk to someone who owns, rides and wrenches on a dirt bike, street bike, ATV or side-by-side. You won't find a more knowledgeable staff of Gearheads or a more devoted customer base because those who rely on us for their parts and gear know that with MotoSport, the loyalty is mutual. Our competitive pricing and wide selection of products means you can grab everything from that impossible-to-find OEM bolt to the latest and greatest motorcycle helmet and have it all on your doorstep in days. Were passionate about what we sell because what we sell is fun.
