Replacing the Fuel Line on a 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R

If you have owned your 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R more than a few seasons, the fuel line deserves a hard look. It is a wear item almost nobody thinks about until it fails, and the failure is rarely graceful. Replacing the hose costs a few dollars, and doing it early beats doing it trailside with a leaking tank.
Why the 300SEF-R Needs a Different Approach
The 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R is fuel-injected, so the tank feeds a pressurized line rather than a gravity-fed one. Look for the absence of a petcock underneath and an electrical connector at the pump assembly. On this 300SEF-R, the hose to the throttle body may use a locking quick-connect with a tab or collar you depress, instead of a hose clamp.
How a Failing Line Announces Itself
Catching a bad line early is mostly about paying attention during routine checks. On a 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R, these signals should send you looking at the hose.

Before the first fitting comes loose, handle the safety side. Gasoline vapor pools low and finds ignition sources you would never consider, including pilot lights across the room. Ventilate properly, keep fuel in a closed container, wear eye protection, and never open the system on a hot engine.
Why This Part Wears Out at All
It helps to treat fuel line as a consumable rather than a permanent part. The material is engineered to stay soft and seal against a barbed fitting, and it loses that ability gradually as heat cycling, sun exposure, and plain calendar age push it the same direction — a dry climate does it fastest. Fuel chemistry compounds the problem. Ethanol blends sitting through a long off-season absorb water and begin to separate, which is harder on rubber than fresh fuel and leaves gum behind. On a 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R stored more than ridden, that combination is the usual culprit.
Draining Down and Pulling the Line

If your 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R uses a push-to-connect coupler, find the release — usually a plastic tab you compress, a collar you pull back, or a hairpin clip you slide out. Depress it fully and pull the halves apart in line with the fitting. If instead you find a barb and clamp, retract the clamp with pliers or a driver, rotate the hose to break its grip on the metal, and work it off. Hardened line is best slit with a blade.
Routing and Securing the New Line
Cut the new line to the original length and make sure the hose is specified for fuel injection pressure rather than gravity feed. That distinction is the most common mistake on a job like this.
Assemble the tank end first. Quick-connect couplers on an injected 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R push together and lock themselves — press firmly until the catch engages, then pull on the joint to prove it is latched. There is no clamp to install on that type. If you find a barbed spigot instead, work the hose all the way on before positioning a clamp over the barb.
Keep every lubricant away from the fittings. Grease, oil, and silicone all interfere with sealing, and on a locking connector they can prevent the latch seating correctly. After both connections are made, trace the hose along its full length on the 300SEF-R to confirm nothing is kinked, stretched, or resting where heat will reach it.
Leak Check Before You Ride
Remove the clamping pliers and pressurize the system before starting the bike. Turning the key on for a moment runs the pump on your 2022 Sherco 300SEF-R and loads the new joint with real pressure; that is your first and most informative test. Inspect both connections with good light immediately after.
Then run it. Bring the engine to temperature and check the fittings again, paying attention to any quick-connect coupler. Those either latch fully or they do not, and a partially engaged connector can separate under pressure with the engine running. Confirm the retaining clip is home and the joint is bone dry.
