A cracked fuel line seems trivial until it strands you at the far end of a trail or drips onto a hot pipe. On a 2018 Sherco 300SEF-R, the fuel line is a short, inexpensive piece of rubber doing a job with zero tolerance for failure — and replacing it is well within reach with basic hand tools and about half an hour.
Understand the 300SEF-R Fuel Delivery First
The 2018 Sherco 300SEF-R is fuel-injected, so the tank feeds a pressurized line rather than a gravity-fed one. Look for the absence of a petcock underneath and an electrical connector at the pump assembly. Fuel chemistry compounds the problem. Ethanol blends sitting through a long off-season absorb water and begin to separate, which is harder on rubber than fresh fuel and leaves gum behind. Parts, Tools, and a Safe Workspace

Getting the Old Line Out of the Way
Injected bikes take the petcock out of the equation, so line-clamping pliers become the shutoff. Clamp the hose closed between the tank and the fitting you intend to open, and confirm it is fully pinched before going further.
Bleed off the pressure remaining in the circuit. With the ignition off and the engine cool, drape a rag over the connection and break it loose gradually. The rag catches the brief spray that comes with releasing a pressurized line.
Now get the fittings apart. On the 2018 Sherco 300SEF-R you may be dealing with a self-locking quick-connect, which releases by pressing a tab or retracting a collar rather than by force. Identify the mechanism first — these connectors break when pried on, and replacements are not cheap. Where the 300SEF-R uses a clamped barb instead, slide the clamp back, twist the hose a quarter turn, and pull it off; slit any hose that has hardened onto the fitting.
Getting the New Line Seated Properly

Wrapping Up and Checking Your Work
Take the clamping pliers off and pressurize before starting. Cycle the ignition to run the pump on the 300SEF-R for a few seconds, then inspect both connections — a pressurized static test exposes a bad joint immediately, without the engine running.
With that clear, start the engine and inspect once more at operating temperature. Quick-connect couplers are the ones to watch, since a connector only partly latched may hold at first and release later. Confirm full engagement and a completely dry joint. Anything less means remaking the connection properly.
