Step-by-Step Instructions for 2023 Beta 390 RR Oil Change
- Warm the engine. Run the bike for 2-3 minutes to help the oil flow and carry particulates out.
- Remove the skid plate (if equipped). Use a Torx or hex driver to access the bottom of the engine.
- Position the drain pan. Place it beneath the engine and transmission drain bolts to catch all fluid.
- Remove oil filter cover bolts (8mm) and oil filter. Loosen both bolts, gently remove the cover, and pull out the old oil filter and O-ring. Allow oil to begin draining from the filter area.– A proprietary tip for the 390 RR: letting the oil filter cavity breathe while draining helps remove more old oil for a more complete service.

- Install new oil filter. Place the new oil filter in the cavity–open end facing the engine, solid end toward the cover. Install a new oil filter cover O-ring, reinstall, and torque cover bolts to 10 Nm.– Incorrect filter orientation can cause dangerous oil starvation.
- Refill with fresh oil. For the 2023 390 RR, fill 750 mL of oil into both the engine side and the transmission side.– This applies to 2015 and newer Beta 4-strokes and is critical for clutch and shifting performance. Replace filler cap O-rings and tighten securely.
- Start the bike and check oil levels. Let the engine idle for 2 minutes, then shut off and allow several minutes for oil to settle. Check the oil sight window on the engine side (while bike is upright and level–not on a stand). The oil should settle in the middle of the window.– Beta models uniquely specify that the engine oil level is checked while running, not off. Add oil in 50 mL increments if needed.
