What You Will Need
- 0.85 liters (850 ml) of high-quality 10W-50 transmission oil (do not use engine oil in gearbox)
- Socket wrench and sockets
- Drain pan and clean funnel
- Graduated measuring cup
- Shop towels
Step-by-Step Guide
- Warm up the Bike
Start and let your XTRAINER idle for a few minutes. This helps suspend contaminants and thins the oil for better draining. - Prep the Work Area
Place the bike upright, preferably on a stand. Position a drain pan beneath the right side, under the drain bolt. - Remove the Fill, Drain, and Oil Level Plugs
The drain bolt is located behind the brake pedal. You may need to gently push the pedal downward to access it.
The fill plug is located above on the right engine cover.
The oil level check plug is also on the right, near the rounded portion of the cover. - Drain the Old Oil
Unscrew the drain plug and let the oil flow out completely. Tilting the bike slightly to the right will help remove any residual oil. - Inspect and Clean
Inspect the drain bolt threads and washer. Clean them with a towel before reinstalling. - Replace the Drain Plug
Once the oil drains fully, reinstall and hand-tighten the drain plug. Do not over-torque. - Refill with Fresh Oil
Use a measured 0.85 liters (850 ml) of 10W-50 transmission oil. A funnel helps prevent spills. Pour slowly to avoid air pockets. - Check Oil Level
With the bike balanced upright, remove the level plug. When oil just begins to drip from the level plug hole, the transmission is properly filled.
The actual amount the engine takes can vary slightly, but 0.85 liters is standard for this model. - Reinstall All Plugs
Securely reinstall fill and level plugs, wiping off any excess oil residue. - Wipe Down and Start Engine
Clean the engine area. Start the bike briefly, then check for leaks. Dispose of old oil properly.
