If you own a 2011 Beta 450 RR, keeping up with regular oil changes is critical for engine longevity. Below is a detailed, MotoSport-exclusive step-by-step guide to change your engine oil, keeping in mind special procedures and tips unique to this model.
What You Need
- Socket wrench (13mm and 8mm sockets recommended)
- Drain pan
- Replacement engine oil: 800 ml of 10W-50 synthetic (recommended: BARDAHL XTC 10W-50)
- New paper oil filter
- Shop rag
- Ring pliers (for oil filter)
- Torque wrench
- New sealing ring for drain bolt (if needed)
Step-by-Step Oil Change Process

Warm up the Engine
Start your 450 RR and let it idle until it reaches normal operating temperature. Warm oil drains better and carries out more contaminants. -
Remove the Skid Plate
Use your 8mm socket to remove the three screws securing the lower bumper (skid plate) and set the plate aside to access the drain bolts.
Note: The Beta 450 RR requires the skid plate removed to access both engine and transmission drain plugs for a cleaner, more effective service. -
Drain the Engine Oil
Park the bike on level ground. Locate the engine oil drain plug (identified as screw C in the factory manual) and place your drain pan underneath.
Unscrew the plug carefully (watch for hot oil). Allow all oil to drain completely before moving on.
Remove the wire mesh (netting) filterclean it thoroughly with a rag. -
Replace & Clean Filters
Remove the oil filter cover by unscrewing the two fasteners. Use ring pliers to gently pull the old paper oil filter from its housing.
Insert the new paper filter, reinstall the cover, and tighten the bolts to 6 Nm. -
Reinstall Drain Plug & Filter
Double-check that the mesh filter and sealing surface are clean. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten to 20 Nm. -
Refill with Oil
Remove the oil fill cap on the left side of the engine. Pour in 800 ml of 10W-50 synthetic oil.
Replace the cap securely. -
Check for Leaks & Oil Level
Start the engine and let it idle for five minutes. Shut it off. After waiting another five minutes, check the oil level via the inspection windowit should sit in the middle of the window.
Top off as necessary but never overfill. Observe for any leaks around the drain plug or oil filter area.
