  • Step 7: Add fresh oil. Insert a funnel into the frame oil filler and pour in 1.8 liters (about 1.9 quarts) if changing both oil and filter. Use 1.7 liters if only changing oil without filter. Double-check your owner’s manual for exact amounts.
  • Step 8: With the cap removed, start the bike and let it idle for about five minutes. This allows oil to circulate and fills the new filter before checking the precise level.
  • Step 9: Shut the bike off and wait about three minutes for the oil to settle. Wipe the dipstick clean, insert it (but do not screw it in), then pull it out to check the oil level.
    If low, top off. Do not overfill—doing so can cause foaming or leaks.
  • Step 10: Wipe down any oil spills, double-check bolts for leaks, reinstall skid plates, and clean up your tools and workspace.
