Step-by-Step Guide
- Cool Down: Ensure the engine is completely cool. Never open the radiator cap on a hot engine - you risk burns from pressurized steam.
- Raise the Bike: Secure the TE250 upright on a stand so it stays level throughout the process.
- Remove Skid Plate: If equipped, remove the skid plate for easier access to the drain bolt and hoses.
- Open Radiator Cap: Gently open the radiator cap to release pressure.
- Locate & Remove Drain Bolt: Position a drain pan under the water pump (right side of engine case). Remove the coolant drain bolt with washer. Coolant will flow out – direct it into the pan for proper disposal.
- Flush (Optional but Recommended): For a full flush, after draining, you can pour distilled water into the radiator and repeat the draining process until the outflow runs clear.
- Inspect Seals & Hoses: Before refilling, check the condition of o-rings, hoses, and the drain bolt washer. Replace any if needed.
- Reinstall Drain Bolt: Thread the drain bolt (with washer) back in. Tighten using a torque wrench to manufacturer's specification.
