- Flush with distilled water. Replace the drain bolt and pour distilled water into the radiator. Reinstall the cap loosely, start the engine for 20–30 seconds to circulate the water, shut off, and re-drain. Repeat until water runs clear. This is extra important if changing coolant types.
- Inspect hoses and seals. On the KX450X, check all coolant hoses, clamps, and radiator for damage or leaks—off-road grit can accelerate wear.
- Add new coolant. With the drain bolt and bleeder tightened, use a funnel to slowly pour in fresh coolant up to the radiator neck. If your KX450X has an overflow reservoir, fill it to the indicated level.
