What You’ll Need
- Up to 48 oz. of 50/50 premixed, motorcycle-safe coolant (silicate-free works best for aluminum engines)
- Drain pan
- Ratchet set and socket/wrench set
- Screwdriver
- 5mm Allen wrench
- Box cutter or sharp utility knife
- Shop rags
- Optional: distilled water for flushing
Preparation and Safety
- Make sure the engine is completely cool before starting. Hot coolant is pressurized – releasing the radiator cap before the system cools can cause scalding.

- Fill the radiator slowly with 50/50 premixed, silicate-free coolant. Fill to the bottom of the filler neck.
- Add coolant to the reservoir tank up to the MAX line.
Air Bleeding and Final Checks
- With the radiator cap removed, start the engine and let it idle for several minutes. Squeeze the radiator hose gently to help bleed trapped air.
- Watch for bubbles; top off coolant as needed. When bubbling ceases, coolant is fully circulated.
- Shut off the engine and let it cool completely. Recheck both radiator and overflow reservoir levels – top off if necessary.
- Securely reinstall the radiator cap and reservoir cover.
- Check for leaks and wipe up any spilled coolant.
