Preparation & Safety

  • Allow the bike to cool completely before starting to avoid burns — the cooling system is under pressure when hot.
  • Place the bike securely on a stand for a level working surface.

Step 1: Remove Radiator Shrouds

  • Using the Phillips screwdriver or a socket, remove the plastic panels/shrouds covering the sides of the radiators.

Step 2: Open Radiator Cap

  • Locate the radiator cap — always open very slowly to relieve any residual pressure.

Step 3: Drain the Old Coolant

  • Locate the coolant drain bolt on the lower right side of the engine (usually at the lowest point of the water pump cover).
