Changing the coolant in your 2017 Beta 125 RR-S is a vital maintenance task that helps protect your engine from overheating and corrosion. Tools – Supplies Needed
- Fresh premixed coolant (compatible with aluminum engines, glycol-based recommended)
- Phillips or flathead screwdriver
- 8mm or 10mm socket/wrench
- Funnel
- Drain pan
- Shop towels

Preparation
- Ensure the engine is completely cool before starting.
- Position the bike on a stable, level stand.
- Clean the radiator area to prevent debris from contaminating the system.
Draining the Old Coolant
- Remove the radiator cap located on the right side of the bike. This equalizes pressure and allows coolant to drain smoothly.
- Place your drain pan under the water pump cover (right side, lower engine).
- Locate & remove the coolant drain bolt (usually bottom bolt on the water pump cover). Let coolant drain completely.
- If possible, gently rock the bike side-to-side to remove trapped fluid. Some residual coolant may remain in engine passages.
Flushing (Optional but Recommended)
- For enhanced cleanliness, fill the system with distilled water after draining. Reinstall the drain bolt and radiator cap, start the engine, idle for 1-2 minutes, and then repeat the drain process. This flushes out debris and old coolant residues.
Refilling with Coolant
- Reinstall & torque the drain bolt to factory spec.
- Using a funnel, slowly pour new coolant into the radiator until just below the filler neck – allow air bubbles to escape.
- Once topped off, lightly tap the hoses and gently rock the bike to help burp trapped air.
- Replace the radiator cap securely.
Final Steps and Bleeding the System
- Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Shut off and let the bike cool fully.
- Remove the radiator cap again and check coolant level, topping off if necessary.
- Repeat the process until the coolant level stabilizes, ensuring all air is purged from the system.
- Check for leaks at the drain bolt and around hoses/cap.
Special Notes for the 2017 Beta 125 RR-S Owner
- This model does not have dedicated air bleeder screws found on older Betas; burp the system by rocking the bike and squeezing the hoses.
- Beta specifies using coolant suitable for aluminum engines to prevent internal corrosion.
