- Fresh coolant (preferably pre-mixed or mix with distilled water only; never use tap water)
- Large drain pan
- Socket set and wrenches
- Rags
- Protective gloves

Coolant Change Steps for the 2009 Beta 525 RR
- Prep Your Bike
Let the 525 RR cool down completely before working. Place it upright on a stand or flat ground for stability. - Remove Radiator Cap
Twist off the radiator cap (left side, above the engine) to relieve system pressure. - Locate and Remove the Drain Bolt
Locate the coolant drain bolt–usually found at the bottom of the water pump cover on the lower right engine side.
Position your drain pan underneath and use the appropriate socket to remove the drain bolt. Allow coolant to flow out fully. - Flush Residual Coolant (Recommended)
If desired, flush the system by pouring a bit of distilled water into the radiator, then briefly reinstall the drain bolt and run the engine for 15–20 seconds. Let it cool, remove the bolt, and drain again. - Inspect Components
Check the radiator cap, coolant hoses, and gaskets for cracks, wear, or leaks. Replace any worn O-rings to maintain factory sealing performance. - Reinstall the Drain Bolt
Install a fresh sealing washer on the drain bolt. Tighten securely but do not overtighten, as this could strip threads. - Add New Coolant
Pour new coolant into the radiator slowly. Use a funnel to avoid spills, filling up to the bottom of the filler neck. - Burp the Cooling System
With the radiator cap still off, start the bike. Allow it to idle for several minutes, occasionally blipping the throttle and gently rocking the bike side-to-side. This helps air bubbles escape.
Stop the engine and recheck the coolant level, topping off if needed. - Check Overflow Reservoir
If equipped, top up the coolant reservoir to the “FULL” line. - Reinstall Radiator Cap
Secure the cap tightly. Wipe up any spills and check for leaks.

- System Capacity: The 525 RR cooling system capacity is slightly over 1L, so one large bottle of coolant is often enough, but keep extra handy to top off after burping.
