Step-by-Step Coolant Change
- Start with a cool engine. Never open the radiator cap or drain coolant when hot–hot coolant can cause severe burns.

- Locate the coolant drain bolt. On the 2007 KX65, this is an 8mm bolt at the lowest point on the water pump cover (right side of the engine).

To remove trapped air, gently tilt the bike side to side or briefly loosen a radiator hose at a high point to help vent remaining bubbles. - Let the bike idle with the radiator cap off. Allow the engine to warm up–you may see the coolant level drop as trapped air escapes. Add more coolant as necessary until the level stabilizes.
- Reinstall the radiator cap. Confirm the cap is clean and threads easily, then tighten firmly.
- Check for leaks. Inspect the drain bolt, hoses, and radiator for leaks. If all is dry, you're finished.
KX65-Specific Tips
- The 2007 KX65's compact design makes the cooling system efficient, but the smaller fluid volume means coolant degrades faster–change every season or after extreme use for maximum protection.
