Step-by-Step Coolant Change Instructions
- Let the bike cool completely. Never open the radiator cap when the engine is hot–scalding coolant may spray out under pressure.
- Remove the radiator cap.
- With your bike upright on a stand, twist the cap off slowly to release pressure.
- Locate and remove the drain bolt.
- The drain bolt is the lowest bolt on the water pump cover (right engine side, usually 8mm size).

- Air Dry – Optional.
- If you have access to compressed air, briefly blow through the radiator and system to eliminate trapped water after flushing. Ensure the system is dry before adding new coolant.
- Reinstall the drain bolt securely to prevent leaks.
- Add new coolant.
- Using a funnel, pour fresh coolant up to the base of the radiator filler neck.
- Burp the system to release air bubbles.
- Gently "kick over" or briefly start the engine (with the cap off) and let it idle for a minute. Bubbles should rise; top off coolant as needed.
- Once the bubbling calms, install the radiator cap and check for leaks at bolts and hoses.
- Ride and Recheck.
- Take a short ride, let the engine cool again, then check the coolant level once more. Add as needed for proper protection–after a ride or two, the fluid should stabilize.
