Essential Tools — What You'll Need

Step 1 – Let Your YZ125 Cool Down

Never remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot. Always perform this procedure when the engine is completely cool to prevent burns and pressure-related accidents.

Step 2 – Remove Side Shrouds (If Necessary)

Access to the radiators is usually best achieved by removing the side shrouds on your YZ125. Use your 8mm socket to remove the bolts and set the shrouds aside.

Step 3 – Open the Radiator Cap

Step 7 – Fill with New Coolant

Using your funnel, slowly fill the radiator with premixed coolant up to the base of the filler neck. Go slowly to avoid trapping air bubbles in the system. Make sure the coolant you choose is aluminum compatible and does not contain silicates.

Step 8 – Bleed Air from the System

Gently rock the YZ125 side to side and compress the radiator hoses by hand to help release trapped air. Top off the coolant if the level drops.

Step 9 – Start and Warm Up

With the radiator cap off, start the engine and let it idle for several minutes. You may notice the coolant level lowering – top it off as necessary. Once the engine cycles and coolant level stabilizes, shut off the engine.

Step 10 – Reinstall the Radiator Cap & Check for Leaks
