Step-by-Step Guide

Prepare the Bike
Ensure the bike is completely cool. Heat can cause pressure buildup in the cooling system, risking injury. Place the dirt bike securely on its stand. -
Drain the Radiator
- Locate the radiator cap on the left side, just above the gas tank. Remove the cap slowly if the system is hot, pressure may escape.
- Find the coolant drain bolt at the bottom of the water pump (typically on the right side of the engine). Place the drip pan beneath the drain area, and remove the drain bolt using a 10mm spanner.
- Let all coolant flow out. To speed draining, open the radiator cap fully.

Flush the Cooling System
- Once emptied, replace the drain bolt and fill the radiator with distilled water.
- Start the bike and let it idle for 3–5 minutes to circulate water. Shut off and let the bike cool completely.
- Remove the drain bolt again and let the flush water drain.
- Repeat this process if the water is cloudy or discolored after the first flush.

Fill with New Coolant
- Install the drain bolt (torque to spec in your owner's manual).
- Use a funnel to fill the radiator slowly with new coolant designed for aluminum engines.
- Fill up to the base of the filler neck.
- Leave the radiator cap off for now.

Bleed Air and Heat Cycle
- Start the bike and let it run until the engine reaches operating temperature (a few minutes). The coolant will expand — watch the level and add if needed before it overflows.
- Stop the engine, let it cool all the way to ambient temperature.
- Check and top off the radiator and reservoir. Air bubbles may escape into the reservoir as the system cools. Repeat topping off if the level drops again after the first ride.
- Install the radiator cap securely.
