Step-by-Step Coolant Replacement
- Ensure the engine is cool. Never open the radiator cap on a hot engine – coolant is under pressure and can cause serious burns.
- Remove any plastics obstructing the radiator cap or hoses. Keep fasteners organized for reassembly.
- Remove the radiator cap. On the DRZ125, this is straightforward but do not force it – turn counterclockwise.
- Locate the coolant drain bolt. The drain bolt is on the water pump cover (typically right side near the bottom). Position a drain pan underneath and remove the bolt using a 10mm socket. Allow all old coolant to drain completely.
