What You Need Before You Start
- Coolant: Use only high-quality premixed silicate-free coolant, such as Honda's official product or other motorcycle-appropriate alternatives. Avoid automotive coolants containing silicates or phosphates, as these can damage your CR85's aluminum radiator and water pump.

Step 1 – Preparation

- Insert a funnel into the radiator neck and slowly fill with your premixed coolant up to the bottom of the fill neck.
- Gently squeeze the radiator hoses to help dislodge trapped air.
Step 5 – Bleeding Air from the System
- Leave the radiator cap off and start the engine. Let it idle for several minutes to circulate coolant and purge air bubbles. Watch for any obvious escapes of air and keep topping off coolant as the level drops.
- Once the air is purged and the level is steady, check that the engine and hoses are warm (but not overheating).
- Shut the engine off and install the radiator cap securely.
Step 6 – Final Checks
- Inspect around the drain bolt and hoses for leaks.
- Reinstall the radiator shrouds and side panels.
- After your first ride, recheck coolant level and top up if necessary.

- This model's radiator is small and the cooling system capacity is low (typically less than 0.5 liters). Never overfill.
