How to bleed & replace brake fluid on a 2025 CFMOTO CFORCE 1000 Overland
Shop parts for a 2025 CFMOTO CFORCE 1000 Overland ATV.
This MotoSport-exclusive service guide covers a full brake fluid replacement & bleeding procedure for the 2025 CFMOTO CFORCE 1000 Overland. Follow these steps carefully to restore pedal/lever feel, remove moisture from the system, and maintain safe braking performance. Read all steps before starting and work in a clean, well-ventilated area. Use protective gloves & eye protection. Brake fluid will damage paint and plastics.
What you need
- DOT 4 brake fluid (factory recommends DOT 4; confirm on your reservoir cap)
- Clean turkey baster or fluid siphon
- Clear 5-6 mm hose to fit bleed nipples
- Catch bottle, brake fluid disposal container
- Wrench set to fit bleed nipples (typically 8 mm or 10 mm)
- Brake cleaner, rags, gloves
- Assistant (recommended) or a manual vacuum/pressure bleeder
- Torque wrench for caliper mount bolts (follow service manual values)
Model notes for the 2025 CFORCE 1000 Overland
- This machine uses hydraulic disc brakes on the front and rear; confirm front is dual-disc setup and rear single-disc on your MMY. Bleed every caliper individually.
- If your ATV is equipped with ABS or an electronic brake module, power cycling procedures differ — do not operate the ABS pump manually without consulting the service manual. If ABS is present and you are unsure, use a pressure/vacuum bleeder or take the machine to a qualified shop.
- The master cylinder reservoir is located under the front storage cover; keep the cap and diaphragm clean. Use only uncontaminated DOT 4 fluid from a sealed container.
- Corrosion on bleed nipples can round heads. Apply penetrating lube and use the correct wrench size to avoid damage.
Preparation
- Park the ATV on level ground and secure it with the parking brake off. Place it on its center stand or a stable lift so wheels can turn freely.
- Clean around the reservoir cap and each caliper bleed nipple to prevent contamination.
- Remove the reservoir cap and diaphragm. Use a turkey baster to remove as much old fluid from the reservoir as possible.
- Top the reservoir to the max line with fresh DOT 4 fluid. Keep the cap off but cover the opening with a clean rag to limit dust ingress.
Bleeding order
Always bleed the caliper farthest from the master cylinder first, then work toward the closest. Typical sequence for the CFORCE 1000 Overland is:
- Rear caliper (farthest)
- Front right caliper
- Front left caliper (closest)
Manual two-person bleed method
- Attach clear hose to the bleed nipple and submerge the other end in a small catch bottle partially filled with fresh fluid to prevent air reentry.
- Have your helper slowly depress the brake pedal or lever several times and hold it down.
- With the lever/pedal held, open the bleed nipple about a 1/4 turn. Fluid and air will flow into the catch bottle. Close the nipple before the helper releases the pedal/lever.
- Repeat the pump-open-close sequence until you see clear, bubble-free fluid. Keep the reservoir topped between cycles to avoid introducing air.
- When finished at that caliper, tighten the bleed nipple to spec (snug — do not over-torque), wipe clean, and move to the next caliper in the sequence.
Single-person vacuum/pressure bleeder method
- Connect the bleeder device per its instructions to the master reservoir or to each caliper bleed nipple as applicable.
- Vacuum bleed from the farthest caliper first. Open the nipple and let the vacuum draw fluid until clear and bubble-free fluid appears.
- Close the nipple, move to the next caliper, and repeat. Keep the reservoir topped with fluid throughout.
Finishing steps
- After all calipers are clear, top the reservoir to the max mark and reinstall the diaphragm and cap. Clean any spilled fluid immediately with brake cleaner.
- Pump the brake lever/pedal several times to confirm firm, consistent feel. If the lever is spongy, repeat bleeding until firm.
- Check for leaks at all bleed nipples and banjo fittings, and torque caliper bolts to the factory specification in the service manual.
- Dispose of used brake fluid per local regulations; do not reuse or dump on soil.
Troubleshooting & tips
- Persistent sponginess often indicates trapped air, a faulty master cylinder, or soft lines. Inspect hoses for swelling and replace if necessary.
- If bubbles keep appearing, inspect the reservoir & diaphragm for cracks or contamination.
- When using a pressure bleeder, do not exceed the device manufacturer&s recommended pressure for hydraulic brake systems (typically 1.0-1.5 bar max) to avoid damage.
- Keep the brake system dry & clean. Never mix DOT 3/4 with silicone brake fluids.
- Record the date and mileage of the fluid change. Brake fluid attracts moisture over time; plan replacements every 1-2 years or per your riding conditions.
Safety reminder
If you detect internal ABS faults, persistent loss of pressure, or damaged components, stop and consult a qualified technician. Improper brake servicing can lead to loss of control.
Perform a slow test ride in a safe area to verify braking performance before returning to normal use.
