This MotoSport guide walks you through a safe, complete brake fluid bleed & replacement for the 2024 CFMOTO CFORCE 600 Touring. Follow each step carefully & consult your owner's manual for any model-specific warnings before you begin.
What you need
- Manufacturer-recommended brake fluid (check owner's manual; DOT4 is commonly used)
- Clear plastic tubing that fits snugly over bleed nipples
- Catch bottle with a one-way valve or a clean container
- Brake bleeder pump or vacuum pump, or a helper for manual pumping
- Wrenches sized for bleed nipples (usually 8mm or 10mm)
- Clean shop rags, gloves, eye protection
- Clean turkey baster or syringe for removing old fluid from reservoir
- Torque wrench for reassembly checks
Safety & prep
- Work on a level surface with the engine off and key removed.
- Park on the center stand or securely supported so wheels are off the ground if needed.
- Brake fluid is corrosive to paint & plastics – protect painted surfaces and immediately wipe spills.
- Wear gloves & eye protection. Keep fluid sealed and dispose of old fluid responsibly.
Model notes specific to the 2024 CFORCE 600 Touring
- The CFORCE 600 Touring uses separate master cylinders for front and rear brakes — the front lever master is on the right handlebar; the rear master cylinder is near the brake pedal. Both reservoirs must be serviced.
- The bike may have two front calipers and a single rear caliper; identify each bleed nipple before starting so you can plan the sequence.
- Some Touring models include ABS or traction-control-related sensors on brake lines; if your machine has ABS components, do not open electrical connectors and consult the manual for ABS-specific bleeding procedures. If unsure, contact an authorized dealer.
- Use only fresh, unopened brake fluid of the grade recommended in the manual. DO NOT mix DOT3/DOT4 with DOT5 (silicone) fluids.
General bleeding strategy
Always keep the reservoir at least half-full during the procedure to avoid introducing air. Work from the caliper furthest from the master cylinder to the closest. If you cannot identify distances easily, follow this safe order: rear caliper(s) first, then the front calipers. Repeat cycles until fluid runs clean and free of bubbles.
Step-by-step procedure
1. Access reservoirs
- Locate the front brake fluid reservoir on the right handlebar & the rear reservoir near the brake pedal area. Remove covers, clean around caps, and remove caps carefully.
- Cover the area around the reservoirs to prevent contamination. Siphon out old fluid from each reservoir using a syringe or turkey baster to create room for fresh fluid & to remove most old fluid trapped at the top.
2. Add fresh fluid
- Pour fresh brake fluid into the reservoir until just below the max mark. Replace cap loosely so pressure won't build, but don't fully tighten while bleeding.
3. Prepare calipers and lines
- Put a clear tube over each bleed nipple and run the other end into a catch bottle. If using a one-way valve bottle, you'll prevent air returning to the caliper.
- Have a helper sit on the ATV and gently apply the brake lever/pedal when requested, or use a bleeder pump/vacuum device for a one-person job.
4. Bleed sequence
- Start with the caliper furthest from the corresponding reservoir/master cylinder. For the front master, that will typically be the opposite-side front caliper. For the rear master, bleed the rear caliper.
- Open the bleed screw one-quarter to one-half turn. Have the helper gently squeeze the lever or press the pedal several times and hold it at the end stroke. While held, open the bleed screw to let fluid and air escape, then close the screw before the helper releases the lever/pedal. Repeat until clear, bubble-free fluid flows.
- Top off the reservoir frequently so it never runs low.
- Close the bleed screw tightly after each caliper is clear. Do not overtighten – snug plus a quarter turn is typical; verify with your owner's manual torque specs if available.
5. Repeat for each caliper
- Continue working from furthest to nearest for each master. Repeat multiple passes if needed until fluid is clear and no air bubbles appear.
6. Final reservoir fill & checks
- Fill the reservoirs to the MAX line, clean the cap sealing surfaces, reinstall and secure caps.
- Wipe any spilled fluid from painted surfaces and inspect lines, hose clamps, and calipers for leaks.
- Operate the brakes repeatedly to confirm a firm pedal/lever feel. If sponginess remains, continue bleeding or inspect for leaks or a faulty master cylinder.
Bench-bleeding a new master cylinder
If you replace a master cylinder, bench-bleed it before installation. Secure it in a vise, attach short bleed hoses from the outlet ports back into the reservoir so fluid cycles through until air is gone. Only install after bench bleeding is complete.
Post-service checks
- Check brake pad wear & rotor condition while calipers are accessible; replace pads or rotors as needed.
- Inspect brake lines for cracks, chafing or leaks — replace any suspect hose immediately.
- Torque any caliper mounting bolts to spec and ensure wheel hardware is correct before riding.
- Perform a low-speed functional test in a safe area to confirm braking performance before returning to regular riding.
Maintenance tips & troubleshooting
- Replace brake fluid every 1-2 years or sooner if contaminated. Fresh fluid maintains boiling-point protection and consistent braking.
- If you cannot get a firm pedal after thorough bleeding, suspect a leak, collapsed line, or a defective master cylinder — diagnose before riding.
- Store brake fluid sealed, away from heat & humidity; discard any fluid that appears contaminated or discolored.
Following this MotoSport procedure ensures the CFORCE 600 Touring's brakes remain responsive and reliable. If you encounter ABS-related warnings, persistent faults, or are uncomfortable performing any step, contact an authorized CFMOTO service center.
