The 2025 STARK VARG EX is an advanced electric enduro cross-country motorcycle designed to compete directly with traditional combustion-engine enduro cross-country bikes in power, performance, and handling. The VARG uses a custom-developed electric motor and battery system housed in a purpose-built aluminum frame with Kayaba suspension. As an electric motorcycle, the VARG has no spark plugs, cylinder head bolts, or combustion engine fasteners. However, the motor mounting, battery pack, chassis, and drivetrain fasteners all require specific torque procedures for safe, reliable operation.

Electric Bike Service Safety

Always disconnect the STARK VARG battery before performing any chassis, suspension, or drivetrain service. The high-voltage battery system must only be serviced by trained technicians using appropriate safety equipment. Consult the official STARK VARG owner’s manual and service documentation for all electrical and battery torque specifications. Do not assume torque values for high-voltage components.

Dry vs. Wet Torque

All torque values listed are dry specifications for clean, unlubricated threads at ambient temperature. The swingarm pivot and rear shock linkage are the sole exceptions — apply grease to the bearing surfaces (never to the bolt threads) before assembly, target the lower end of the torque range at those locations, and confirm smooth, drag-free rotation after tightening.

Thread Locker Guide

  • Medium-strength (blue): rear sprocket bolts, front and rear brake disc bolts, rear caliper bolts, flywheel bolt
  • Clutch hub nut: medium-strength thread locker plus mechanical staking after reaching torque
  • No thread locker: cylinder head bolts, camshaft cap bolts, axle hardware, fork clamp bolts
  • Anti-seize: exhaust header mounting bolts only

Torque Wrench Selection

A quality click-type torque wrench in the 10–100 Nm range covers all major chassis, drivetrain, and engine fasteners. A compact 5–25 Nm precision wrench is essential for cylinder head bolts and camshaft cap bolts where accuracy in the low end of the range is critical. Calibrate all tools annually.
