As the last year on the original frame platform, the 2017 Beta 300 RR Race Edition is a fully mature competition big-bore two-stroke. The 300cc liquid-cooled engine with electronic oil injection, power valve system, and six-speed gearbox has been validated through four years of Race Edition production and countless hours of competition use. KYB fork and Sachs rear shock with race-tuned valving, ergal footpegs, and factory livery complete the package. Every specification and tolerance on this platform is proven and correct — the 2017 Race Edition represents peak development of the original 300 RR competition chassis.

Dry vs. Wet Torque

All values assume dry threads. The 300 Race Edition’s 40 Nm head nut spec is the highest in the two-stroke range. Reduce 15–20% when compound is present to prevent over-clamping the maximum-displacement bore.

Final-Year Platform & Used-Market Considerations

As a final-year model on this chassis, some 2017 300 RR Race Editions may now have significant hours on the frame and bearings. Verify not just torque values but bearing condition at the swingarm pivot, linkage, and steering head. Worn bearings prevent a fastener from maintaining correct preload even at the specified torque. On a competition 300 with years of potential race use, bearing inspection accompanies torque verification.

Thread Locker Usage

Medium-strength (blue) thread locker for the 2017 Beta 300 RR Race:

  • Rear sprocket nuts
  • All disc bolts
  • Linkage bolts
  • Subframe bolts
  • Exhaust mount hardware
  • Skid plate bolts
  • Power valve cover bolts

Torque Wrench Selection

A 3/8-inch drive click-type for 15–100 Nm and a 1/4-inch drive for 10 Nm hardware. Two drive sizes for the final-year 300cc Race Edition on the original chassis.
